Tein SS-P's at the track
Has anyone had experience at the track with Tein SS-P's?
If so, I'd really like to know your thoughts on how they perform. I do only 2 to 4 track days a year, and daily drive my car. I'd like something just slightly stiffer than the G37S OEM setup for DD, and the ability to tighten it up at the track. The SS-P's seem to fit that description. Thanks a lot! |
I have not tracked with my SSP but they do great in the canyon/twisty road type driving. I haven't messed around with the damping force just yet but I have the EDFC ready to be installed fairly soon here.I daily my car and love how the ride feels. I can tell you that performance out of these is significantly better than any spring setup i've had and I went through NF210 and Eibach. I'm confident you'll be happy with the SSP. I'm pairing mine with Whiteline sways and will report how much of an improvement comes out of that.

Due to the spring rates, and of course the EDFC convenience, they're at the top of my list. Any noise from the pillow ball mounts? |

I would recommend you go for something a bit better.
I personally would recommend SRCs; they are daily drivable. You'll need to get a set custom made for the G, but I can arrange for that. I have a direct contact into Tein. If you want something OTS, then the KW V3 is your best bet. If you're willing to spend 6k+ on a setup, then I can point you in the right direction with JRZ/Ohlins/AST/Penske/SRE. |

When you say something "better", specifically what parameter(s) did you have in mind? (especially given my goals of going *slightly* stiffer than stock sport). KW V3 is tempting, but I'm concerned about its springs. I know they're progressive, but that further complicates making a choice... I should try to find someone w/ them and see how they are. Honestly, I have a while before my suspension is the limiting factor on the track! Thanks again for your help! |
"better" would be something where you could specify what you want, but you'd need to know what you want first. An example would be something with long shock travel and relatively low high-speed damping for compliance during day to day driving, but with independently adjustable, stiffer low-speed compression and rebound for static cornering performance. All valved to be matched to the highest spring rate you're willing to endure daily :)
