Suspension Guru's...any suggestions?

Guys, I tried using the "search" engine to help answer my questions and have had no luck...can any of you gentlemen help me out and chime in......?

I have 08' Coupe and due to it being my daily driver and add the fact I have clients in my car on a daily basis, I have been hesitant on dropping the car. However, the gap in the front is KILLING me smalls. Can you guys make a suggestion for somebody looking for a moderate drop (just want to shrink that NASTY front gap), while not sacrificing ride quality much from stock? I DO NOT want to bring clients in my car and risk a lawsuit due to them getting whip lash while I go over speed bumps in Miami...I also don't want to have a jump house in my car personally..so should I go springs? Coils? I do not want to slam the car...

Will I need camber kits for springs or coils? Spacers? Or nothing? Any suggestions or recommendations would help fella's, even though I am sure this has been covered...appreciate any input:biggthumpup:

If you're looking for a mild non aggressive drop and decent ride, try the Eibach springs

for a mild drop there is a few springs you can chose from... eibachs give a mild drop but some on here have complained of harshness of ride. no camber kit is needed for these.

you could use swift springs which i have heard great things from the ppl that use them. and are barely stiffer than stock and does not require camber kits either. or if you have the money to spend go with the tanabe coilovers and then you can adjust your drop and ive ridden in a car with them and they ride like a dream.

That's great input G37. Are camber kits required for the Tanabe coils? Thanks for the help!

only dependent on if you go lower than the eibach drop. (about an inch maybe a little more) if you go less than an inch no kits nessesary

Cool...I'm going to look into the Tanabes and possibly purchase them over the weekend once I shop around and check reviews. This is input I needed! Appreciate it.

If you drop your car more than 1 inch you'll need camber kits

Camber kits are recommended for just about every drop. Is it worth it if you are only lowring your car a little bit? That really depends, I guess if I had $300 tires on each wheel I would def get camber kits. Eibachs and now Swift are the best spring choices for what you are looking for. Otherwise you can go with coilovers and try to close the wheel gap to your liking. Tanabes are great but are only height adjustable, no damping. Tein basics are also great, but no damping. After that you get into some expensive sets. I like my Stance coilovers which are right around $1100. So much information, reviews on suspension set ups its hard to miss. Good Luck

Got it P Casey! Looks like I'll purchase a camber kit regardless..that aside I don't think I can justify paying $1K plus on a suspension set-up. Then again, I feel going springs is the cheap route. So bleeping frustrating..I'll look into swift springs and see what guys are saying a out the ride quality. The ride quality and the moderate drop are my main objectives. There is no clear cut answer, as it really just depends on preference. Ahhh!!:banghead:

swift springs are excellent and if i wasnt going with ksport coilovers i would be buying swift springs

Ibanez540r Feb 10, 2012 12:52 AM

I've been debating the same for a while. What's the better ride, tanabes or just springs?

G37, do you know where most people are purchasing them and for how much? I'm googling and seeing various prices from $300-$499...I'll keep searching.
