Can't unbolt stock shock to remove spring
Hey guys, I'm trying to do this step to the second assembly. (Was already able to remove the spring from the first)
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1/IMG_2678.jpg However the nut is just spinning at the top and I can hear a clicking sound down in the shock as I turn. A good 50 turns later and the nut hasn't moved since it got near the top of the threading. I'm taking the eibachs to get put on the shock tomorrow, think there's anything they can do to remove the old one if the bolt just continues to spin? |
figured it out.
while looking at the one I already removed I noticed that there was a little piece of metal under the dust guard I might be able to use to keep the bar from spinning. I had a crappy/flimsy wrench that came in a box with something I previously purchased that i was able to bend around that metal piece on the shock to keep it in place and hold the top part of the shock as I turned it. The flimsy wrench went flying with the spring finally popped free lol |
You NEED an impact wrench for this step and to put it back on. Please go buy one before you break something or hurt yourself.

true but I don't think you'll be able to put it back on tight enough without the impact wrench
|
hey i was doing this same install tonight and wasnt able to get past the huge 21mm bolt that hold the bottom of the strut on. I dried pb plaster with an impact wrench and breaker bar and got nothing. Now the nuts are starting to strip. How were you able to get these off? I'm gonna let them soak over night in PB plaster then go get a nut extractor in the morning and try that.
