My $300 mistake

While part hunting for brake parts to go with the Akebono upgrade to the G I decided to get the Duralast GT street rotors. I know it's not a performance part. I was just looking for something good looking that would work as a stop gap until i get 2-piece rotors for the Z and stick the Z1 slotted 1 piece that are on the Z now on the G.

Lets start with the good. The fronts are not bad for the price. Exact fitment, jet hot coated, sprinkle slot and $162 a pair with free shipping. I paired them with the same stoptech sport pads I run on the Z and they bite quite nicely. The car stops much better than the base bakes but guessing that's mostly due to the pads. But for a budget street rotor I'd give them a solid 8/10

The bad: They don't make a matching rear rotor. The rotors I got are for the base brakes. I used a 370Z Nismo as the vehicle assuming there was no way I could get base brakes sent to me. Buy online return to the store policy so off to the store I went last night. The button pusher tells me that Nissan switched brakes from '12 to '13 and those where the right rotors for my car. OK, your computer is wrong but just give me the ones for a '12, the year doesn't matter as long as it's the right size. They do not offer the sprinkle slot jet hot coated rotors for a '12, only '09-'11 and '13-19 in the base brake size.

So I had to stick the old oem rears off the Z on the G just to get it rolling until i figure out what rotors I'm getting now. I had to leave the front's since the oem Z fronts where in no good. Now I'm stuck with the new front rotors i can't get matching rears for and will need a new set of front pads to go with the new rotors plus my labor to swap everything again.

Overall 0/10 they won't even fit on the car and I'm out about $300+labor

You'd have to go with these for the rear:

Duralast Gold/Brake Rotor
44619DG

https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-...chText=44619DG

Site pulls them as a direct fit @ 350mm for the 2012 G37 Sport.

Incorrect parts books are a known fact. For the G, the 355/350 mm rotors will fit 2007 thru 2015. Maybe even the redesigned Q50/Q60.

It's the same rotor size for 13+ years. From the '07 G to the '19 Z and Q. This is just shear incompetence.

I first ran into the issue back about 1998. Nissan made the Sentra SE-R (1991-1994) and it's somewhat coupe companion NX2000 (1991-1993). The NX could be had with larger brakes that swapped to the Sentra. The NX was sold for three years with the large brakes but all parts book indicated only the first year. The books were never fixed.

Yea, unfortunately it seems like the Sport trim gets mistaken for the RWD coupe, the one with 330mm rotors.

A couple of Nissan SR20s would pull a premium one week before race wars.
