KW Variant 3 Coilover G37 Install and Road Test Review! Look!
Hi everyone!
We just finished installing a set of the KW G37 Variant 3 Coilover our G37 shop car. I am the lucky guy that gets to drive it around all the time.
Let me give you the short review first, and then you can ready on if you like: The KW Variant 3 is the BEST out-of-the-box coilover I have ever used on a street car....A+++++.
KW is a German company that has been building world class professional racing coilovers for years. Although not as well know as some of the trendy tuner brands, KW makes, IMHO the highest quality coilover systems currently on the market. World class REAL engineering, race proven and testing, and dampening and spring rates that work perfectly, without breaking your back with unnecessary harshness. Of course, if you want to brake the bank, we run the $9500 Competition Coilovers on one of our race cars too!
Having driven dozens of brands of coilovers, both on the street, and the track, I can tell you that the KW is a cut above anything else on the market.
The installation was a piece of cake, and went very smoothly. No confusion or weird instructions...just use your head and it basically installs itself. Second, there is zero noise or ratttling of any kind. Third, the ride quality is terrific, and there is virtually no dive or squat during accelleration or deceleration. The adjusters allow you to go from rock hard, to cadillac ride...very quickly.
Unlike some other brands of coilovers, the adjustment clicks actually make a BIG difference...one click of the adjusters goes a long way. The Variant 3 is a two way adjustable system, with seperate bump(compression) and rebound settings.
On the initial install, I put the settings right in the middle, and took it for a test spin on our closed circuit track. The car has been completely transformed. The transiant response, and turn in is incredibly confidence inspriring. Gone is the soft and lazy feel of the stock suspension, and the vague feedback the wheel would give me.
I invite any local G37 customers to come by and take our car for a test drive, and give the suspension a little workout. I think you will come away, just as impressed as I was.
Price on the set is $2065 and are available now.

^^ I noticed that, got the aggressive stance goin on there, which is nice.
I remember back in the day when we had to put a block of rubber in the rear suspension to get a stance like that.

It all depends on how much you want to spend If you can afford the coilovers I would suggest you do it right the first time. Eibachs arent going to improve your handling anywhere close to what the KW's can.
