BRAKE/Slip/ABS aaaand Squishy pedal
On my way home from running errands. Run out to the car, put foot down on brake to start the car and I hear/feel a *CLUNK* and the pedal hits the floor. All 3 of the warning lights are on. Made it home going slow. Was hoping it was just low brake fluid (it was indeed a little low), so I added more. When car is off, brake feels as it should, but as soon as I start the car, the pedal hits the floor without much effort. Master cylinder perhaps? Getting towed to dealer (eh) in the morning.

Will do. Given the mileage, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the brake booster/master cylinder. I just went out to the car. Before starting, the pedal was firm as it should be. Once started, easily hits the floor. Turned car off and no change. I’ll kick myself if it’s something simple like air in the system. But I just don’t have the ability right now to check. Until tomorrow!

Last time I experienced this it was a blown brake line on a different car. However, if you have no external leaks and only happens when the engine is on, then it's an internal leak and as mentioned, the mc or booster. I do recall reading some other reports here of failed brake boosters.

It's pretty rare for a line to fail, even in this area. Don't recall other posts about such an issue in the time I've been on here.
Be glad it's not the rear lines. More of a headache to replace.
Dealership too lazy to bend their own lines? Which dealer is this if you don't mind sharing?

I hear you. Did they show you the failed/failing lines? I've seen failed lines but wonder what one about to fail looks like - bulge maybe?
Be prepared for your bill to increase. It's possible other things will get broken in the process of removing the failed line(s). Did they try to sell you on replacing all the lines? It might be something to consider if you plan on keeping the car long term. Dealership may not be the cheapest place to do this but something to think about.

Saw the lines. One about to fail had cracks. They said the rear were still good. No upsale there. I’m having them drain/fill the power steeriing fluid and 7AT fluid as well (my request). Car is there, might as well. $$$ but whatever. Just not in the mood to order all the fluids myself and wait at home on delivery day, then go to the independent shop I’d normally go to in another week or two (he’s always super busy).
Planning on a new car in 2020. This should tide me over until then.
