Will this brake set fit my G37S Sedan?
Hello,
I've got a 2011 G37S Sedan RWD 6MT and need to replace brakes on all 4 wheels. From the factory, it came with the Akebono big brake package, so I'd like to replace them with quality as well. I'm looking to get this full brake set (4 rotors + 8 pads): GMC K2500 1995 - [Full Set] 4 Performance Rotors and 8 Premium Ceramic Pads for a Nissan Infiniti SCD888PR41377 Price seems very reasonable, especially compared to what local mechanics are quoting me. - Will this fit my particular year, model and trim? - Is this a genuine Brembo brake set? - How will this set compare to the Akebonos I had? Thanks! |
What the hell is a "CHEVROLET UPLANDER 2006 [Full Set] 4 Performance Rotors and 8 Premium Ceramic Pads for a Nissan Infiniti"?
There is so much wrong here, I would not buy anything from them. Also, the price is WAY too low... $190 for 2 sets of pads, and 4 rotors? They must be VERY, very poor quality. PLUS, the pads pictured are not for the sport package. Don't cheap out on brakes, it can cost you a lot of frustration and money when they need to be re-done a few months later. Many folks here like the Centric rotors... I like OEM. |
- It's some website algorithm/coding glitch when you post links. When I posted the link on FB, it said Toyota Matrix, so I don't think that's an issue.
- Most people in my local FB group are quoting me below $400 after taxes with installation. That sounds about right, since the shops are telling me labour is like $180 or so. - I have a very good friend whose father does all maintenance himself for his cars. He's been ordering from this website for a while, says it comes right to your door and he's satisfied with the quality. |
Yeah, for your quality Akebono brake set I would go w/ Sonics recommendation. You won't have to change them in a long time, might as well spend a bit more and be assured you're getting the good stuff. Centric Premium Rotors have good rust prevention and better venting vs. OEM and they are the parent company of Stoptech which is a very reputable brake brand.

Just to give you an idea, a quality sport package rotor is about $100 each, pads are around $100 per axle. I believe if it is too good to be true, it is. Please be careful with these brakes. |
I want to say pads & rotors from rock auto (Centric Premium Rotors and Posi-quiet Pads) front and rear are about $400 shipped. Those are the cheapest brakes I would run.

are you looking for worse performance or just trying to save money?
if money is the issue maybe trade in the entire car for something more affordable because of all the things to skimp on brakes are not what I would choose when quality is not very much to begin with. And OEM on the S package cars is pretty damn good IMO. YMMV |

I just have a life outside of "dat G lyfe" and am not obsessed with my car, just trying to be reasonable with replacement parts. Obviously nobody is looking for worse performance either. Chose your words. I'm not asking you for life or financial advice, I'm asking for brands/options/comments on link I posted. |

I'm not looking to get ripped off. Shops quoting me $1300 are trying to take me for a ride, just like many mechanics in the FB group have expressed.

ROFL - If you truly care about your life outside of "dat G lyfe" you wouldn't risk it with $180 brake system. I suggest you chose your brakes wisely :bowrofl:

Which is exactly why I posted here, to see others' opinions. People online are great and all, but like I said I have a close friend who purchases from this website and is satisfied with the quality. Therefore I'm asking those who know more to comment - not judge my choices of getting a g37 and saying I should "trade in the whole car". State your opinion, and move on.
Seriously though, I can't buy quality brakes for my civic or my wife's mazda 2 for $189. If its too good to be true... |

They may be just fine, or they may be crap... Every decision has a consequence. By the way, changing brake pads with the Sport package is VERY easy! (2 cotter pins, 2 pins, and they are out) Next week I will be posting a DIY step by step video. |

You already have many opinions so make your decision and get it done. If you are waiting for everyone to agree on a brand/price, it won't happen. We all have different opinions on brake parts.

If you want quality parts for a good price, you let me know. No way in hell would I put any of those parts on any of my cars. Regards, |

First of all, Brembo and AKEBONO are 2 completely different companies, so maybe someone needs to educate them on the differences.

I was being nice...:BOUNCE: |
i wasn't suggesting you trade in your car. There are places to cut corners and there are places to not. Brakes are not one of them. Some find the cost of maintenance on these to be too much so if that's the case instead of risking your life because maintenance costs are too high I suggested it as a possibility.
Personally I get frustrated by people who come in here with some off the wall craziness that literally could get you killed and then not liking it when they are told the truth. $1300 is a ripoff yes but there are a million places to get it done for far less. Best of luck! |

I'm considering aftermarket as well just a lot of possible combos and some work better than other / cost more than others etc , just like shops out there , some will even provide the cigarette for your after smoke :icon11:so do some research... |
