Need new Sport/Akebono rotors. What WON'T warp prematurely?
Time to get new rotors and pads. Approaching 50K. But I don't want OEM rotors again. Them ****'s warped within the first 10K of owning the car. Then I found out about the TSB around 30K and got that done. Then around 42K they were warped again. Now at 47K it's becoming unbearable again. And I'm not abnormally hard on the brakes at all.
So, I see there are sooooo many options for rotors. I'm not trying to spend $500 each on 2-piece rotors. Looking to keep it under $400 for the pair, especially since I suspect the rears to be warped as well. I don't really care about having the highest end of track performance, just something that will work at least as good as stock without warping after driving around the block! Has anyone had anything long enough to comment on it's warp resistance? I see there is StopTech, EBC, etc! Any suggestions? |
I actually just had my r1 concepts put on this week. Obviously haven't had much break in time, but the quality seemed good. Got a great deal on them too. Just a suggestion.

DBA 4000 Series

the cheapest solution: stoptech slotted rotors all around, or DBA4000.

There is nothing wrong with stock rotors, the issue is the crap pads that the cars come with stock. "Warped rotors" is a misconception; the issue is uneven pad transfer which once prevalent on a rotor needs to be turned on a lathe to remove affectively.
Buy stock style rotors (centric brand from tirerack are good) and spend some money on high quality pads that are made to work at a higher temp than the stockers. These cars have enormous rotors for a car of its size and hp, there should be no issue with warping rotors under normal usage. There have been many discussions on this in the past and there are many informative articles available to read on the subject... |
Racing Brake 2 piece rotors are great :) I have some for sale ;)
