Cost of OEM struts + AM springs vs. coilovers
I'm debating whether to purchase new Eibach springs vs. coilovers, but the decision is complicated by the fact that I'm likely approaching the end of life of the stock struts. They have just below 50k miles on them. We all know he initial investment for coilovers is significantly higher than springs alone, but is this difference negligible if comparing new OEM struts + new aftermarket springs? Why about installation costs? Are they significarly higher for coilovers? Figure Eibachs are $235 shipped and my area charges $250 for installation of springs alone.
I guess in the end if cost of stock struts are approximately $750 all around, then here probably is no difference in costs between the two options. I want to make sure I'm not overlooking any additional costs. Also, how does the lifespan of coilovers compare with springs+struts, holding constant drivig style and mileage? TIA |
Stock struts should last much longer than 50K miles. Most probably last as long as the car. So should coilovers.

Got it. So in a coilovers setup the only part that requires replacement is the spring? If so, do these typically cost significantly more than typical aftermarket springs? |

Does this expectation still hold when OEM struts are paired with aftermarket springs?
