Steering wheel vibration and looseness at high speed

I've had my G sedan now for almost a year; car has been great so far. I have been noticing vibration from the steering wheel at speeds over 70mph (e.g. if I'm trying to pass someone). Additionally, the steering wheel feels very 'loose' at those speeds. Not very confidence inspiring.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be (and related solutions)?

Many thanks.

P.S. I did run a forum search before I posted my question, but could not find a similar thread.

time to re-balance your wheels...

Also -- sometimes you may have a bend in your rims... so they may try and see if the rims themselves balance out to determine if they are out of whack...

Should be a simple fix..

Or you might need an alignment.

Do you need to do an alignment every year?

It depends. Hitting a pothole could knock you out of alignment, but then it's possible to go 2 years or more and still not really need one.

Can't hurt to get it checked. Alignment's are pretty inexpensive. So is having your wheels rotated and balanced.

Get them both done and see if that doesn't fix it. If it doesn't, I'd take it to the dealer and let them diagnose and fix it.

Road force balance all four tires and rotate. Many high end shops and reputable tire stores use this system - does a much better job diagnosing balancing issues compared to traditional spin balancing.
