What Replacement D2S Bulbs?
What colour temperature are the OEM D2S HID bulbs in a 2013 G37S M6 Sedan? And what brand are the factory-installed ones?
Also, which of these replacement bulbs that I found are best and why? Any other suggestions? I value brightness and longevity, with a colour temperature in the range of 4,000-5,500 K. Thanks. |
I love my Osram CBI D2S bulbs, had them about 3 years now with no issues. If/when they ever go out, I'll give the Osram CBB bulbs a try next.

Thanks, but I think both CBI and CBB are too cool for driving in wet conditions and on snow. That’s why I did not include them in the list. I’d rather get something closer to the OEM colour temperature.

Yeah at the time I was buying them (2016) they were advertised as 5500k. Says up to 6k now on their site, so who knows lol.
Here's is a picture of my receipt: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...1bb91d5430.jpg |
Well, there’s a lot of marketing involved. That’s why I’m asking for opinions from actual users here.

Maybe give the Diode Dynamics bulbs a try, I love their LEDs. 3 year warranty.

CORRECTION: I made a confusion below. The headlight bulbs are still HID, not LED. But the question remains: How bright are the DD HIDs vs. the Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Lasers?
This seems to be an interesting option because the LEDs are plug and play, are cheaper, come in several colour temperature options and most likely there’s no warm-up period. Are there any downsides to LEDs? How bright are the LEDs vs. the HIDs? The are rated at 3,200 lm (https://www.osram.com/appsj/pdc/pdf....t&lid=EN&mpid= ).

Osram uses a different approach when labeling their bulbs.
Your typical HID bulbs go like this 5K pure white 6K blu-ish white 7k bluish Osram actually uses the "Kelvin" color temperature rating to describe the brightness of the bulbs rather than the actual color temperature. Very misleading and confusing. But Osram uses the simple approach of the higher the "K" the brighter the bulb. |
But in the URL I posted above, Osram clearly rates the bulbs as providing a flux of 3,200 lm.
