Painting Chrome grille to Midnight Black

Hey guys to save myself 300 dollars on buying a midnight grille the one that is black with the top and bottom blades chrome, my only problem is how do i mask the bottom blade since theres no groove to really mask from? And do i leave the whole bottom blade chrome? Or just the face that you can see when you look straight on? If anyone has this grille id appreciate some close up pics of the bottom so i have an idea where to start masking from? Or any tips aswell? Heres a pic of the grille that im hoping it looks like

my .02...I just De-plastidipped my grill over the weekend...originally I did it just to see if I'd like the look of the midnight grille...its looked good in pictures and from far away, but the texture just not right even with the glossier and it just looked cheap up close (maybe its just tougher to apply and I just don't have the skill with a rattle can)...it held up to the elements well but I'm going to vinyl wrap it this time around and suggest wrap or paint over plastidip

If spraying yourself, do yourself a favour and use 2k Clearcoat from SprayMax. Use protection its real paint that will melt your lungs. 2 years since I painted mine, not a single chip

thanks for this i have been on the fence about the plasti dip looking cheap. how hard of a wrap job you think its gonna be looks intricate to ge it to stick and to get in all corners. and i have little experience with wrap have done my interior. let me know how the job goes.

the DIY's on here are very helpful for explaining the cutlines, it doesn't look too bad except maybe the corners (maybe) I got the 3m 1080p vinyl which is quite forgiving...I'll try to post a pic once I get around to doing it in the next few weeks hopefully...

ummm...lol no its not...it just doesn't have the emblem attached (The emblem is a separate piece that doesn't come with the grille even when you buy it)...see the picture below the grill picture in the link with the emblem attached)...you take the emblem off your old one with the two tabs holding it on to the grille and use it with the new grille...lol, I don't know what to tell you other than that..anyways good luck

It's 99%, more than likely, the black reflecting off the chrome. Tape, primer paint, spraymax 2k, light cut, done.

I was going back and forth on OEM or painting mine and decided to pull the trigger on OEM and this was the cheapest I could find: https://www.infinitipartsdeal.com/pa...310-jl000.html

I should get it within a couple days and can take some pics if you'd like?
