OEMassive Coupe headlights
Hello!
As many of you probably know, a company called OEMassive recently began selling an aftermarket headlight option for the G37 coupe. I preordered a set of these lights, and after having them installed for the past few days I have decided to do a review of them. Here's the box they came in: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...580da601b4.jpg They were well packed with expanding foam in individual boxes: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...b2195b59a7.jpg Here's a look at the front of the light: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...121442f3ba.jpg As well as the rear: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...d37206dd28.jpg They also come with an instruction sheet that details how to swap the stock ballasts over to the new lights: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...3706752109.jpg Here's a quick comparison with one of the stock headlights: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...5b9c4959e6.jpg Here's one of the headlights installed showing the comparison of off, parking lights/DRL, low beams, and turn signal: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...6522f5cf13.jpg Here's a few of the final product: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...e00299fc4d.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...11527d0fe5.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...fdf6cca48f.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...8cb4d3e569.jpg And of course the all important light output shots. Top in each picture is OEM, and bottom is OEMassive. The first comparison shot is is low beam, and the second is high beam. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...ac29395306.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...d6b8071839.jpg As you can see, the light output isn't quite as clean as OEM. The rectangles of light you see from the OEMassive headlights aren't really visible while driving. I haven't been highbeamed by anyone either, so it doesn't seem to be a distraction to other drivers. The high beams I have Hikari LED H7 units installed in place of the supplied halogens. While they are extremely bright up close, they don't illuminate quite as far out as the Bi-Xenon solution that the original headlights provide. This seems typical for LED lights though. Here's a couple of pictures I snapped with my phone of the lights in use outside: Low beam https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...e9c553fc9d.jpg High Beam https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...17fb9ecf09.jpg Driving (out of focus) https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...074facff02.jpg Overall I really like these lights. I'm sure the headlight snobs out there will talk endless crap about them because they don't have and absolutely perfect cutoff and no chromatic aberration or whatever it is they like. I can see just fine at night with these. This is the first company to offer a new design for our cars. It may not be perfect, but they seem to be built pretty well and the design is something new for the platform. I really like how the LED DRL's flow with the IPL bumper, it's an aggressive but elegant look. I do wish they would have used an LED instead of an incandescent turn signal bulb up in the corner though. If you have any questions, just ask on this thread so others that may have the same question can have it answered as well. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...ed04976bef.jpg |

Thanks for the review, very well done!

Fantastic Review.
I think they look pretty slick. May not be for everyone but this is a worthy replacement compared to what has come out in the past. |
Excellent review! Thanks!
|
can u post a pic of it in the day light?
|
Is the driving out of focus picture with low beam or high beam?
|
Arxylis, did you have any issues with fitment on your set? QC seemed a little subpar. Passenger side fit pretty well for me. Drivers side - I have maybe a less than 1/3 cm gap at the tip of the headlight housing where it connects to the quarter panel / fender area. I also have a smudge in the interior of the lense housing. Overall happy with the results though.

appreciate the review... although imho.. its too busy and does not flow well with the car..

WOW
These look really nice, great find! A nice update to the pretty outdated design of the OEM lights. Yet still true to Nissan's design language (clearly influenced by the R35 headlights). Would probably strongly consider these if made available for the sedan. Thanks for sharing! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...7c71c90fda.jpg |
To the OP, the amber reflectors with l.e.d. on the side looks to be off during turn signal and come back on with drl/parking lights.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the delayed response, I've been working 64 of the last 72 hours and I've been getting naps in whenever I can.
Itskoopa These headlights go for $599.99+tax. I got them for 20% off as part of the preorder deal they were running. Here's the link to them: OEMassive headlights for G37 Coupe saywat? I'll get some daylight pictures here in the next few days hopefully. It's been fairly overcast here lately. G37xS-Life The out of focus picture while driving is with the brights on. I'll get some more on road pics and/or videos soon. blov Fitment was pretty good. The shape of these lights makes them a bit of a pain to get just right. There are some adjustments that can be made to the tabs on these lights. I had to hold the light in the position that I wanted it in as I tightened the bolts to keep them in just the right spot. I haven't had any cosmetic issues with the lights themselves. STownSaint Yeah, the design is definitely patterned off of the R35 GTR and with the IPL bumper I think it looks very fitting. OEMassive has stated that they are working on a set of sedan lights, not sure if the design will be similar or not. VOLK_TE37 I didn't even notice that until you mentioned it, but yeah the LED's on the reflector turn off when the turn signal is on. I'm guessing it's to be compliant with the turn signal laws about other lighted elements in operation during turn signal use. Apparently any other lights except the low or high beams have to be disabled when the turn signals are on if they are within a certain distance of the turn signal light. |
Here's some quick pics I got with my phone while at work. It's not bright and sunny out but hopefully it should give a better idea of how they look during the day.
