Cell Phone Mount
Hey Team,
I tried searching but I couldn't easily find anything. What kind of cell phone mount do you call use? I tried the one that goes into the CD player but I wasn't a fan. Photos would be helpful. Thanks! |
I would be interested to see examples of these as well.

Take a look at Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts - ProClip USA top notch stuff. Used to use them for everything from phones to PDA's. Haven't had the need to use them for a while but you buy the holder for your device then the matching piece for your car. I have never had anything come loose or fall out. A tad pricey but so is a iPhone7 hitting the floor.

I have this mounted on the lower left corner of the windshield.
The ball is universal and most times it holds my garmin rather than the phone. Another option is to check out rammounts. They are the Cadillac of all things mount related. |
When I had an iphone 5 it fit in the pocket hole next to the cigarette hole. But now I have an iphone 7 so I just stuck a piece of double sided tape next to the dash :D

I would be interested in an option that does not interfere with A/C vents, and that any modifications can be undone. Have not found anything that meets my preferences. Currently, using the cup holder as best possible until a someone can share a better solution. |

Thank you everyone for their feedback!

I don't have mine mounted very often so I just use one like this. Can easily be found under $3 if you're willing to wait on shipping, or for like $8 off Amazon or the like.

I'm surprised none of you have mentioned this one!
It's made specifically for our car. You actually have to remove the radio and screw it in. I love it! Placement is perfect. And while most then attach one of those fixed, spring loaded mounts, I went with a magnetic one like this: You just adhere the magnetic base to the metal mount and then adhere the thin metal plate to your case. I love how I can attach and detach the phone with much ease, and angle the phone to my exact liking. All in all, the best setup I think. |

i don't like the positioning of the Proclip / permanent mount things - puts the phone too low. i like it more eye-level for Nav, etc.
i have an iOttie 1-touch that i removed the holder from and replaced with a magnet mount. |
I just use cup holder

I use Kuda dash mount with iPOW magnet. Mounts to dash well. I would say the fit is about 75-80% perfect.
Kuda is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it. Other mounts that I have used makes the dash look really tacky. Also, as others have said, the pro clip mount is dangerously low if you use your phone for GPS map. |

Works like a charm |
I bought mount from amazon.
It works pretty well. I will take a picture of it in my car later today. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...0aa0e2adab.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...b118d4f8e0.jpg |
TEXTRAX mounts are the only ones to use for anything. There mini metal 3m adhesive mounts are the best for any minimalist.
|
I updated my above post with pictures.
|
As mentioned, for safety reasons, phone should be near eye level. I still prefer mine at the bottom left corner of the windshield. It's at eye level but not intrusive like it would be if mounted in the middle of the windshield (below the rear view mirror).

It doesn't make the interior look tacky and it does not obstruct the vent's airflow. In addition, Kuda's customer service is pretty good as well. USPS actually broke the first one they sent me and after contacting Kuda, they sent me a brand new one right away despite being in the middle of moving to a larger warehouse. :) I forgot to mention, the magnet mount and dash base mount are two separate items and sold separately. |

edit: nevermind, i see it is, but i'd need the base part with the 4 screws. |

what does the magnet mount part look like - the "ball and collar" type? i have a bunch and wonder if any of those would work with it without having to buy another.

I opted to use Scosche MagicMount Window Mount because it puts the phone very close to my line of sight while driving, is within easy reach, is adjustable, doesn't block any controls on the dashboard, mounts to the dash with an adhesive pad, is quick to mount/dismount the phone, and can be stored in the glove box when not in use.

to ensure spending $90 on a mount from Pro Clips is worth the money (i have an otter box so most are "not compatible") does anyone have an otter box compatible case and think its worth the $90?

so i decided to go with the car mount below. Originally I had it mounted on the right side of my center screen, but currently have it on my dash above the screen. Very happy with it, i have the magnet in between my otter box rubber and plastic cases. Sticks very well, i would recommend it for anyone looking for a mount

I just use the one that goes inside the CD. It's worked well for me so far.
