Auto trunk raise feature. Anyone tried a stiffer gas strut spring?

Auto trunk raise feature. Anyone tried a stiffer gas strut spring?

Its nice we can unlock the trunk easily. But it's a pain to get the thing to raise with your hands full. Has anyone put in a stronger gas strut so that once unlocked it raises up at least a little bit?

Doubt that would do anything other than make the trunk require more effort to close since they don't really exert upward force until the lid is lifted

I ask because the Bimmer guys figured out how to do it:

looks like they just put a spring on the strut to give it a small head start. Seems to work fine on the hatchback, but I dont think it will work the same on ours
