Dome LEDs are too big? or Don't use 3M tape?

There's no room to actually stick the LEDs down, so do I just let them sit within the dome light? Stupid question but I don't want lights raddling around while driving. |
edit.
Think I received the wrong dome leds... |
They look like the kind I first purchased from diode dynamics. I have since replaced all of their products with v-led leds as they are bulbs any not "circuit board" style. I had issues with them fitting and staying stuck inside. Too often I found the board falling and visible against the cover.

Also had a problem with them being on faintly at night...even though the switch was off. |
I'm upset at the fact that I CAN'T even tape it down...
The wiring gets in the way of the tape so it just dangles there. |
I had the ones you're having a problem with.
Switched to these. 5K WHITE 4 LED 2W HIGH POWER BULBS 194 168 158 | 1 PAIR B/O - Forward - 5K White LED - 194 - 168 - 158 LED - Bulb # They're just as bright and way less of a PITA to install...although a little more expensive. |
I had the light slightly on with switch off as well.
I had to wrap the wire around the leds to get it all to fit. Very mickey mousey. |
If you want to use those LEDs, try sticking 1 piece of additional 3m on the existing 3m. Basically raise it above the plug. I have the same LEDs and works. Otherwise, i believe there are companies that make them cut to fit.

The stage 3 bulbs are the circuit board style. If you send us an email: contact@diodedynamics.com we can get them switched out to a stage 2 that will be a regular style bulb.
Shoot me a PM and I will help you out, -Nick C. |
Guys, we test fitment on every interior light we sell for this exact reason. This is the light in my G37. Just plug in the adapter, wrap the wiring into the extra space by the socket, and stick the board in place. Hold firmly for 10 seconds and it will not fall down.
It is not a problem with the fitment. If you want a plug-style bulb like the VLEDs one above, just order our stage 2 bulb. This is the stage 3, which is the brightest on the market. To achieve maximum brightness, the board is used in many stage 3 applications. We know it won't fit some housings, but this is why we test the fitment. http://oi42.tinypic.com/33xyj28.jpg |

Honestly Paul, I too have had to stick the stage 3 map lights up a bajillion times and it still falls down. And it's not cheapo sticky tape, it's actually very good. I chalked it up to the fact that it's 187 degrees every day where I live and even hotter inside the car when it sits outside in the sun all day while I'm at work. anything that stuck any better would be hard to remove. I could devise a more permanent solution (3M Super 77 adhesive) but it doesn't really bother me that it falls down and the individual lights are visible through the cover. No biggie for me.
I will say that Diode Dynamics did right by me when one of them went out. I discovered that one of the wire "legs" on the pug had somehow broken off inside the housing and only made intermittent contact. I called and explained it and with zero hassle I was sent another 194 adapter. I didn't have to do RMA crap or send it back in for inspection or any of that stuff that is typical with defective product claims. They just shipped me another pigtail right out immediately and I got it fixed. |
