Anyone add cooled seats? (like in the convertible)

Has anyone add cooled seats to the coupe? (like in the convertible)

I searched, but I didn't see a thread on this.

I'm thinking that some parts could be added since the seats appear same/similar.

Why would cooled seats be needed in a NON-convertible? There's no sun heating up your seats or your environment. Sooooooooo

EricP3 06-07-2012 09:32 PM

My *** sweats profusely. I would like cooled seats in any car.

It was only 80 today and my car was hot as hell after work.

Are you? You know that you need more than the seats, right? You need an additional condenser or you need the air to run off of the main condenser. You would also need to run the air ducts as well as a new wiring harness...

I'm just giving you a hard time bro! Don't take me too serious. It would be a lot of work though!

I challenge you to be the first! Then do a DIY!

Hmmmm. Good point! LOL. The more I think about it the more that would be kinda hot. But only if it came with the car.

I'm talking about VENTED, not necessarily chilled, so I guess my thread title is wrong-ish.

Pretty sure you don't need the seats... The seats are already perforated. They look the same in the vert. I think just some fan and plumbing is needed and that it steals air from the existing floor ductwork perhaps. This is infiniti/nissan we're talking about - it's not going to be rocket-science difficult IMO.

Anyway, I am hoping someone tried this and has some info on success/failure rather than the usual "you don't need this feature" opinions. ;)

If they haven't, I say go for it! This would be one of the better DIY's

Just checked the service manual. There's a semiconductor heat pump gizmo that they are blowing air across... I've bought those in the past for other applications, they work pretty well are compact and silent and are super-simple (just 12 volts and ground connection). And looks like 2 blowers. The pictures aren't too great, I can't see what else is there. May have to peek under my seats to see what's there or not there. I drove a Jag XF the other day and the seats could freeze you.

The seats are a fully self contained system. There is no ducting from the main AC unit, just a fan built into the seat bottom. The air conditioning effect comes from a thermal device also built into the seat. Dealer wanted about 6k per seat, but it would be a direct replacement. The only other thing you would need to do is replace a relay and the switch in the center console.

And ask yourself who needs AC seats on a non-vert when it's 118 outside and 150 inside your car after work...

Every time I'm moving a vehicle with cooled seats into one of our bays, I get so jealous. Before I got my G, I was told cooled seats were overrated.... Yeah right! They're amazing! Especially here in Florida. If there was a fairly inexpensive and easy route to this, I would be all for it! I'm pretty sure a thread similar to this one came up not too long ago that I commented on, but I think it just died and got swept away. In for updates however.

my brother in-laws CTS-V has ventilated seats. We were test driving it on the back roads and it felt soooo good on my back. It made driving with the windows down pleasurable.

tjf37 06-08-2012 11:45 PM

i agree with fluxemag, 118 out here in az sucks... the biggest downfall is not selling it in a coupe. regardless, i still love my g so i can live without it for a while unless someone finds a easy mod to ventilate them
