Is body paint covered under warranty?

I bought a brand new 2011 G37 about two months ago. I just noticed one small piece (like half size of this icon :)) paint dropped off on the hood yesterday.

Do you guys know if warranty covers it?

Thanks!

no they dont, trust me, infiniti usa has heard from me 3 times about this and they wont cover it

No or else everybody would be going to the dealership to get their car painted. It's a known fact that the Infiniti paint is garbage.

Owning it for 2 months w/ only one chip is pretty damn good, I've got about 50 on mine :(

Get used to it. There will be plenty more showing up. The paint sux on this car.

^ unfortunately that is very true, this is the ONLY real issue if have with infiniti, i take a lot of time to detail the car and keep it waxed and sealed but the front bumper and half hood can not be saved unless you have clear bra... :(

I am just curious how this tiny paint dropped off? I park this car in my garage every day. My wife said maybe a bird pecked the hood, but i don't believe so.

Probably just happened on your drive, the smallest pebble hitting your paint will cause paint chips to fly off your hood. Trust me, I've owned plenty of cars and a couple the same years as our Infinitis and I've NEVER seen such fragile paint. Like a previous poster mentioned, it's one of the few real gripes I've got about these cars :(

anything chips this paint. u coulda been driving and hit a bug and the paint would chip. i have an '02 Honda Civic sitting outside that has had 60k miles put on the last paint job on it. It has far less chips in the paint than my 8 month old g37. I've also had a Maaco paint job on an old EG hatch, that chipped less than this paint. Just keep complaining till the dealership uses touch up paint, thats the best ull get

Anyone know who supplies the paint? We should get that name out here for all to see.

It must be hit or miss on the paint chips. While the quality of the paint job on my car is fairly poor (a lot of orange peel), I've had very few issues with gravel chips. I try to be careful not to follow large trucks too closely, but after nearly twelve months of ownership, a tough winter, and 12,000 miles I only have a couple of very small chips on the hood and bumper.

I doubt it's the actual paint that's the issue, more than likely it's the process they use. IMO it seems like a combination of a thinner coat (or coats) of paint and not the best adhesion to the base metal. It's also harder to get a good paint job w/ all the low VOC requirements set by the EPA. But it can be done and should be something Infiniti should strive to improve.
