bimmer hid's
didnt want to sign up on a bimmer forum just for this so i thought i would throw it out there...assuming someone may know:
what HID come stock on a new (2009- ) 335? im assuming its greater than 4300k on our G's....want to upgrade but having difficulty knowing what 6000k etc will look like and i have seen the 335's on the road and like the brightness/colour... |
The 6000k HID's on my BMW vert (aftermarket) look bluer than the factor HID's on our BMW X3. If I had to guess, I'd say they aren't 6000K. Above 6000K you definitely get a "mod" look with blue notes rising strongly - if I start to see blue or purple I know its not a factory HID. 6000K is about the hottest that still looks white - a cold bright white. The consensus on the Audi groups is that *all* manufacturer factory equipment HID's are at 4300K as this is the brightest temperature - most visible light per watt. I would not assume the 335 is hotter. The projector casing also injects color - a prism facet will throw a rainbow and let you see color you wouldn't otherwise. 5500-6000K is popular for people who want a little more that factory without pulling undue attention.

If I'm not mistaken, all OEM HID are no higher color temperature than 4300K.

hey...good write-up/response! that's exactly what im after...dont want it looking too non-stock...i could swear the bimmer's looked different but like u say...could be the housing...thanks!
|
definitely 4300k....the reason why their color looks different than ours has to do with the lense....
i believe the only car on the market with different kelvin hid's is the lamborghini murceillago which has 10,000k hid's... |
all cars come with 4100k bulbs from the factory. all depends on the type of lense the projectors use. Every see a s2000 or tsx projectors? nice blue cutoff, better than bmw.
