Changing Tints
Right now I have 35% tints and wanting to switch to something darker. I was wanting 20% tints in the back and was wondering will I have visibility issues with 20% tint? I'm not interested in 5% cause thats wayyyyy too dark for me. My friend's FX has 5% and I absolutely can't stand it. BTW will it interfer with the auto dimming feature in the mirror.

If you want to change go 20% or 15%, no darker but 35% looks good and classy too.

20% on back and sides is very nice. Usually, 35% is the darkest most states will allow on the side windows even with the driver. A good tinter will work with you and tell you what he thinks is best. For example, for another car I have, I was trying for 15% but was talked into something like 22% due to the film being a lot better quality.

You wimps, real men get 0% tint like me. :p
Dude, stick with your 35% man, I don't think it'll be worth the money spent. You might even regret it thinking it's too dark. I had a 25% on my Accord and it was hard to see out the windows at night. |
i got 15% on driver/passenger and 5% on sides and back window on a OB .. it looks great .. id say go with 15

I already have 35% and it seems to light for me. I guess I'll just do 20%. How is the visibility in the rear window with 20%?
|
I have 28% all around (except windshield of course). Sometimes I feel it's too light during the day if the sun is strong, but it's always perfect at night or when the sun isn't blazing. No added attention from cops either, and overall I'm pretty happy with them.

15% back and rear; 38% front sides. haven't been stopped yet for tint (illegal in CA to have front sides tinted). 15% is not too dark
|
I got 35% on the sides and 20% on the rear window. That really blends well. The rear window needs to be a bit darker because it is so big and is at an angle. For the most part it looks even when you look at the car from any angle. I think it was the right call.
I don't find any visibility issues, but I do live in socal where it is well lit at pretty much any time of day/night. |
this is my first car with tints and i had 20% i was like.... uhhhh NO switched to 5%

Usually you have to start talking code to them... "cash", "no receipt", "show car".
I have 4 cars. 1)G37 - 15% all around = perfect and stealthy looking 2)Z28 - 25% front/ 5% back = front too light/back too dark 3) Explorer - bought it with tint, assume is has 25% all around = decent enough, keeps out enough light 4) Accord - 20% all around = perfect IMO 15-20% is the only way to go if you want to keep out the heat, light, and make your car look clean. You can still see in a little but not too much. Easy to see out at night. Just go to the tint shot and see samples of the tint before you buy. |
I actually have 20% now and think that its wayyy to light the visibility is very GOOD you can see everything perf night and day i think 15% is the way to go!
