6000k HIDs
 

i just had what i think is 6000k HIDs installed in the headlights...i say what i think b/c its what i told them...but they are bluer than anticipated, i was hoping they wood be more white...is this common or did they install 8000k by accident...sorry i dont have pics right now

6000K is pretty white with only a slight hint of bluish. If they are pretty blue you may have 8000K. If they're more purple they are 10000K. You should ask whoever put them in for you to let you see the package they came out of.

I just installed new 6000k HID's from Andy at HPA tonight and when I did a road test, I have to admit....the blue/purple-ish light definitely does decrease visibility. I didn't think the switch from 4300k to 6000k would be that significant. With that being said, let me ask this, didn't I read on here that new HID bulbs in higher kelvin temps (like 6000k) take a few hours to brighten up? I guess my real question is, will these give me more light output after they've been used for a few hours?

I had the same issue with the bulbs from HPA. Way too much blue for me. I had them in for 3 or 4 months, and they didnt whiten up one bit. They were just as blue as the day they were installed. I had to get another pair of 6000k bulbs from Lou at amplified. Those were pure white with a hint of blue around the edges.

So I'm assuming you like these much better huh? Got any pics? I'm gonna give these a try, but I never really realized how much light the OEM bulbs put out.

^ they are way better than what i had before. I used to have to drive with the fogs on to get a good source of light. but now i dont. Ill try and snap some pics this weekend for you. but IMO, they were way brighter. The loss in light output is still noticable, just not nearly as much as before.

so I just took her out for another spin with the new lights and I swear this time around they seem much brighter.....either they just need to break-in, or I just thought they were more dim. I guess it's just that my eyes aren't used to the silvery-white color they emit on the road. I think in the long run I'll like them. I guess we'll see how they do. I could always get the 5000k capsules and give them a try since I know they'd be closer to OEM light output with pure white light.

No issues with my 6oook Phillips bulbs.... lumens (IMO) is near stock and the color is perfect.
