Angel eyes didn't fit :(

Hey guys

I received Angel Eyes a few days ago and took it to a shop today to try and install it. When they compared pictures from umnitza website it looked like the angel eyes were different in size,

The halo on the fog/city lights looked like it would fit, however the halo on the HID was slightly larger than shown on the picture. This made the mechanic feel that there wouldn't be enough surface area to glue/epoxy the halo due to the curves and ridges on the HID projector casing. He said if it was flushed like the one in the picture then the glue/epoxy would be easier to stick on and won't fall off.

I then found pictures from myg37 and showed it to the mechanic.

This time it looked like the ring was larger than the one sent to me. They were reluctant to expoxy it on saying they won't guarantee that it won't fall off. They test fitted it with the housing, and gave me another call and this time they said the casing won't fit over top of it because the angel eye was too big..

Also both those pictures do not have the metal connection that I see on the kit they sent me :(

I have taken some pictures and attached them.

Do you guys think I got the wrong kit?

Oh no.. Another Umnitza fuggup... Have heard lots of people hating them, and lots of people praising them... Sorry for your luck... Tell'em you want what they showed in their pic...

They only fit on BMW's? :dunno:

sTiLLBaLLiN37 Oct 7, 2008 10:45 PM

Didn't I mention in the PM a while back, that the shop has to do custom work on the halos to make it fit??

kkokko Oct 7, 2008 10:59 PM

hm.. yes I've emailed umnitza, they didn't mention anything about custom work and it's not in their instructions.

What sort of custom work can they do though I mean it's hard plastic... :dunno:

Also they only took apart the right side of the headlights, the left side they didnt touch and when I was looking closely I notice on the right side of the lights where it meets the panel has a very slight gap that is more pronounced than the untouched left side. Hard for me to explain but I'll use a reference picture to show the location. Is this normal because they had to remove the bumper and casing and put it together so it won't ever be as perfectly gapped/ lined up as the factory?

I will ask the place where I got mine done and get a detailed report about the customization
If I forget, PM me =)

Thats the picture off my car, and I have probably removed my bumper/headlights about 3-4 times and don't have a gap. They have to align the headlight correctly. You can move slightly before completely tightening the screw so they should be able to adjust and fix the gap.

Ahh sorry for using your picture as a reference, and thanks for the advice...

**UPDATE**Umnitza has contacted me back regarding the angel eyes and says that he will take photos for me. Although I don't see how any adjustment could make the rings smaller... or bigger....

It's not really a gap.. more like the existing groove is a little wider in the middle maybe about a 1 cm affected length of affected area compared to the untouched side...

Pictures are worth a thousand words... although I'm not very good here goes... ->

my angel eyes fit perfectly
no problems here
if ur in socal i have a shop that does a great job

So

Umnitza says that the rings I have are the right ones.. and here is the installers response..

Apparently, the housing won't close properly because the lens cover would
press against the angel eyes. This means that the lens cover would not be
able to be pushed all the way back into the original position. That was the
installer's opinion. Actually 2 installers looked at it and both agreed on
that.

It was quite obvious that the angel eyes didn't fit properly when we had the
housing open and placed the angel eyes over the projectors. You can see
that the ring should have been made smaller for a good fitment. We've
installed many angel eye kits for various vehicles and the fitments have
been much better than this kit.

Also, we already had the housing open and ready for the angel eye
installation, so most of the work was already done. If the installer felt
that the installation would have gone fine, then there's no reason for us to
not install them.

But if the manufacturer insists that the fitment is correct, then we can
give it another try but we can't guarantee that it'll turn out fine.

Sincerely,
Peter/N-Motion

Umnitza send me wrong halos too. The first set they sent, 1 of the bulbs didnt even work. Would not reccomend anyone buying from Umnitza!

kkokko Oct 31, 2008 06:37 PM

What did they send you instead of the right one? or was the first one just not working?
