Removal of package tray?

Hello,

Has anyone removed the package tray? If so, can you provide instructions, tips, hints?

This is the piece across the back that holds the speakers and third eye brake light (if equipped).

Thanks!

Sorry if there is confusion with the term of "package tray". I have two 1967 vehicles and that's what it's called on cars of that era.

Thanks for the link but I couldn't find the service manual on that page. I think there might be an issue with the site.

If you dont mind... Could you do a write up and take some pics of this? I dont know what your doing with it but This would be very helpful for the non-spoiler people who add a spoiler and want to change the rear deck....

what do ya say?

Sure! I'd be happy to as soon as I can figure out how to uninstall it.

I've pulled the back seat forward and removed the two pins that you see. It appears that the right and left sides of the piece go behind the trim below the quarter windows. Before I start tearing the car apart I wanted to see if anyone has done this before so I don't remove stuff I don't have to.

The directions and drawings for doing this are in the Service Manual.
