OK - So what is that? Is it something that fits over the keyhole, replaces that part, how does it stay in place? Details please, I am interested.

me too me too

The keyhole is good for when:

1. The car battery is dead.
2. The IK battery is dead.
2. The IK doesn't work at all.
2. You happen to lose the "Intelligent" part of the key.

The part is the passenger side keyhole cover or "Escutcheon" if you need to proper name. You just pop off the driver's side cover and replace it with the passenger side.

So if you are locked out for the above reasons, the keyhole is still there under the cover, correct?

carman63 Oct 19, 2007 06:06 AM

They should've come from the factory like this. It's just a cover, if you need access to the keyhole you pop it off.

100% Correct on all counts.

Ok, I am sold. Part #?

( I have platinum graphite, so exact part number is ok for me ).

Also, if I pop off my passenger side, that should have the part number right?

I don't know if the passenger side has the part number, I didn't want to risk taking it off and breaking it. The box has two numbers on it, one I believe is the date and the other the actual part number. Here's both:

82646-JL03A <--- I believe this is the part number.

&

20070517 <---- I think this just the date of manufacture or something, as in 05/17/2007

RedHerring Oct 19, 2007 09:20 AM

I work in auto-logistics, I see those date codes every day all day. Thanks for the info brother-man. Looks fantastic. A thief is going to go WTF??? And it will keep out dirt, air ( who knows what kind of drag that keyhole is producing? ).

Probably good for a solid 10 ponies ATW. Did you notice the torque increase? Just ordered it.82646-JL03A is correct part number for Platinum Graphite. The parts guy double checked. Cool.
