2012 Sedan non bose & nav systems - backup camera
Hi All,
Today I removed the trunk inside cover to see if the harness has a pre-configured camera plug and I found 1 plug that wasn't in use. can anyone advise if that is for the trunk lid camera? I am interested in buying the trunk lid with the camera slot and install a camera in it. BTW I also have the PX6 pheonix screen on its way. Thanks. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...8979ead8d.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...c1c1dc311.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...8ec911a7f.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...065ae0e3e.jpeg |
Can you show a picture of the wires for the 4-pin connector circled here:
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...f82ad63ddd.jpg The camera connector will have four (4) wires: red, black, yellow, and white. Here is a pic of the camera connector itself: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...5f4ae1e56e.jpg I am 99% confident your mystery connector is for the camera. Hope this helps... |
I have an PX6 android on it's way, how will I connect the other side?

Hi,
I have only 2 wires, black & green - WIRING HARNESS OEM 24027-1NA0B I wonder if I can change it to the camera harness... https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...b3c9e94484.jpg Should you decide to later install a spoiler you will need this connector for the 3rd brake light. You can repurpose this connector, but in the end you will still have to run wires from your headunit to the camera. |
Thanks, well I am not going for that spoiler but, can do you know if there are aftermarket rear camera that fit to our oem slot?

There are plenty of OEM cameras on eBay ranging from $35 and up that will fit perfectly. |
but I can't use OEM camera due to the fact that I don't have the correct wiring, no?
so that leaves me with aftermarket camera I think :) |
Aftermarket or OEM, you will still need to run wiring from the headunit to the rear. I did and it is not that difficult. I went from '08 non-NAV to '14 NAV in my '08 Coupe and only ran 2 wires for the camera. Using OEM will make the install easier and cleaner IMO.

Can you send me a link? what harness do I need for the OEM one?
|
A new harness is not the answer and will not help you. Depending on your skill set you will either have to run your own wires or have a reputable shop do the work.
|
so if the camera needs 4 wires I will have to run them to my unit? BTW my unit is aftermarket (Phoenix 13.6'')
|
I do not know how the Phoenix unit is wired but the OEM camera will need 4 wires (¹power, ²ground, ³signal, ⁴signal shield). You will have to verify how the Phoenix unit connects the camera and go from there. It is not hard at all once you verify proper wiring.

Just checked it, I have an RCA video input, is there a way to connect the OEM camera to it?
