Navigation control panel ribbon cable?

Hey everybody, newbie to the Infiniti world here. I bought my 2011 G37x about a week ago and after driving for a few hours without AUX or Bluetooth I realized just how bad the radio actually is. So I bought the Grom kit and installed it on Friday. Problem is I accidentally put a hole in the ribbon cable between the climate control panel and the navigation panel. I can't find JUST the ribbon cable anywhere. Does anybody have a clue where to find it? I can't find generic ribbon cable that has the same pinning either or else I just make my own. Any help you all can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

First and foremost, welcome to the forum.

The ribbon cable is not available, new, from Infiniti. Just one of those things... that said, there are a few options:

1) Can your ribbon cable be repaired? If you have decent enough soldering skills (I don't) you should be able to patch the break maybe with a jumper wire. It is not like those wires are high voltage...

2) You might have to scour eBay for used multi-function switch assemblies and get one from there. Luckily there are plenty on eBay- relatively inexpensive- and many have the ribbon attached. You might get lucky and have a seller willing to just sell the cable.

3) I MIGHThave a spare ribbon cable somewhere in my workshop back from when I did my NAV swap. I know I have a few extra switch assemblies. No guarantees and I won't know until tomorrow but if I do I can mail it to you. Again, no promises that I have one. Or;

I will check tomorrow and advise accordingly.
Again, welcome to forum.

Alex

Thanks Alex, appreciate the reply and the welcome. I was able to find a few of the control panels on eBay with the ribbon attached for decent prices like you said. I'll wait to hear from you before I go the eBay route. Thanks again!

Well, unfortunately, I do bot have the ribbon cable. I have 2 switch assemblies, but not one cable. Bummer.

At least there is eBay!

I've found a few control units with the cable on eBay but I don't know if a Navi control unit has the same ribbon cable as a non-Navi control unit. Anybody have any info on this? The Navi control unit has a lot more buttons so I'm thinking it uses a different ribbon cable??

The ribbon is the same. Extra buttons = extra resistors/values. My car was originally non-NAV, later swapped to NAV, and have a JDM switch assembly. Same ribbon cable and it works fine.

8f in doubt, get one that matches your setup, but I think you'll be fine either way.

I ended up getting one with the NAV buttons, 29.99 shipped with the cable. A couple eBay sellers offered to sell just the cable but they wanted $40+ so I decided to just go the cheapest route available. I'll be sure to update the post when I install the ribbon cable.
