Phone Connection Issue

When I try to make a call I say the name I'm calling and the "car voice" comes back with "name not available" or something like that. I tried calling several people and I get the same response. So, I tried replacing my phone and the "car voice" tells me that the phone I'm trying to replace is already in the car memory.
When I use the "call" option instead of "phonebook" and I enter the actual phone number, the call goes thru, but it won't recognize a name when I use Phonebook.
Now what do I do? I'm stumped.
Anyone have this same experience? My car is a 2012 G37 sedan.
Thanks for any help.

Did you follow the instructions in the owners manual?

See page 4-93

VEHICLE PHONEBOOK
GUID-9C55C4DB-C8AB-40D9-9A84-A06D2C3EF82D
This vehicle has two phonebooks available
for hands-free use. Depending on the
phone, the system may automatically
download the entire cell phone

s phone-
book into the

Handset Phonebook

. For
the details about downloading a phone-
book, see

Phone setting

(P.4-98). If a
phonebook does not automatically down-
load, the vehicle phonebook may be set for
up to 1,000 entries. This phonebook allows
the recording of a name to speak while
using voice recognition.

Copy from the Handset
The system will show the connected
cellular phone

s phonebook that was
downloaded (depending on the
phone

s compatibility). Select one of
these entries to save in the vehicle
phonebook.
