For the Connected Car "CarPlay-Like" Experience
#182
Great to see the existing wire harness for VL1 can be used in VL2.
I would like to purchase a VL2 for my 2007 G35X with Nav (which falls under the 2008 G35 with Nav for the VL1 is available for that car model).
I see that VL2 is not available until the 2010 model.
My question is if VL1 works with 2007 G35 with Nav and the wire harness is compatible with VL2 - can the VL2 just be used in a 2007 G35X with Nav?
With all the processing and memory and OS version updates in VL2, it makes sense to use VL2 rather than a VL1 version in my car.
Thank you for any help you can provide,
Kevin

Figured I'd reach out to the community and detail where I currently am with this.
First off, I've installed another launcher, because quite frankly the one that's delivered "Dashlinq", is garbage. I've installed Apex Launcher and configured it in landscape mode. Apparently Grom has done something to the android build and has hidden the status bar entirely. I can't figure out how to turn it back on, but would love to know how. Additionally, doing this has made the interface much snappier.
I've also installed Flar2's Button Mapper - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ar2.homebutton - This has allowed me to map custom actions to many of the hardware buttons (such as he D-Pad and back button). This has also made things behave much better.
Lastly I installed "AutoStart - no root" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...=com.autostart - This allows me to start TuneIn Radio when the VLine boots.
Also, I did pre-order the new V2 Unit as they informed me that as long as I purchased before a specific date I would be able to return my V1 unit for a full refund.
If people care, I will continue to update as I make changes and streamline...

I finally got mine installed last week and took me days to figure out how to use it since they left out 30 pages in my manual. Anyway, I love the look of yours. How did you customize it like that?

Correct, it's Apex Launcher. Also, in Apex Settings, be sure to enable "Tablet Mode", and set the landscape grid to 4 rows and 7 columns.
The top-left icon is TuneIn Radio (I've since replaced with the TuneIn widget), and the top-right widget is Waze.
Under the Waze widget is an "Agenda" widget from the app Calengoo.

Thanks for the info on customizing the screen. Does anyone know if we can change out the lcd screen for a newer HD one. The Vline made my 2009 G37 look better and functional, but it still doesn't look as good as newer screens.

VL2 support for 2008 G35 with Nav
Last few days left to preorder at early bird discounted pricing, VLine VL2:

Once VL2 adds support for 2008 G35 with Nav, please post an update on this thread.
Thank you,
Kevin

I would also like to know, that would make a huge improvement in the user experience, not just a higher resolution display but better touch input and support for multitouch, would really help when using Google maps, anyways if anyone has any info about a better screen manufacterer for our cars I'm definitely on board for the upgrade!

Also has anyone had issues with the gps antenna not working, I set the navigation with many navigation apps and they all say gps not found, or no signal, I've tried connecting and reconnecting the antenna and nothing, I've mounted it exactly how and where the manual suggested I do so
