INFINITI stops NAV Map updates for some models
I just found out that Infiniti has decided to stop providing Navigation Map updates (through Navigation.com) for vehicles with Hard Drive Based navigation systems. These models include:
G sedan 2007-2009, G coupe 2008-2009, G convertible 2009 M 2008-2010 QX56 2008-2010 EX 2008-2009 FX 2009 The latest update available is version 8.8 which was released in early 2015. Both Navigation.com and Infiniti support were unable to explain why no more updates are available. So I asked my dealer’s Service Manager to contact Infiniti’s corporate office in Canada. The reply was that there is some technical problem preventing updates and Infiniti does not want to spend any time or money to fix it – turning its back on its customers. This decision was kept secret and never announced, even to their dealers. Perhaps Infiniti thought it could contain any backlash by being quiet. This decision is especially frustrating for Vancouver area car owners as we have had several major Highway improvements (Hwy17, South Fraser Perimeter Rd and Port Mann Bridge approaches) that do NOT appear on the current map. Essentially, infiniti has made our NAV systems quite useless and have devalued our trade-in value. Considering that owners had to pay considerable money for the NAV TECH package, I think this is unfair. In my opinion, Infiniti either needs to reverse their decision or pay compensation for the damage they have caused. Considering recent events of untrustworthy and unethical vehicle manufactures (Volkswagen), I would think Infiniti would do more to keep loyal customers instead of turning them off. I have written to the head of Infiniti Canada to try and get a better response. His address is: Infiniti, a division of Nissan Canada Inc. 5290 Orbitor Drive Mississauga, ON L4W 4Z5 Attention: Stephen Lester, Managing Director Infiniti Canada If you are in the same boat, I suggest you complain to your dealer and write/call Infiniti Head Office. Maybe if enough customers complain Infiniti will reconsider. |
Good luck!

Another reason why I want Android Auto on my next car.

I wouldn’t mind updating from my 2009 maps. Does anyone have the disc they’d like to sell since its abandonware?

I purchased the update and found out the maps are from 2020. Not nice Infiniti! |
Did they send you a disc in the mail or did you have to go into the dealership?

A small package with 5 DVDs and it take about 2 hours to install :(

Is it just map updates since 2010 or are there differences in the nav instructions? I find myself using Apple maps because it has better nev instructions, for example, “Go through the next light then make a left”
The Infiniti turn by turn instructions in my 2009 Infiniti G37s seem from a different decade. Did they improve with any updates along the way? |

Did you notice any difference with the turn by turn directions? Is it like Apple or Google maps now?
