128GB SanDisk Ultra Fit Flash Drive
Amazon.com: SanDisk Ultra Fit 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ43-128G-G46) [Older Version]: Computers & Accessories
Tested out the USB drive feature on my '13 G37xS with a spare 4GB thumb drive I had laying around. It worked very well, so I upgraded to this SanDisk 128GB unit. It literally is the size of your thumbnail and takes up next to no space in the center console. Large capacity, USB 3.0, compact size, cheap cost---it's perfect! |
Cool. Good idea. I'm going to try it with one of my old MicroSD cards and compact USB adapters.
|
Hope you have the nav system. Non-nav (like mine) are limited to 1,000 files for music playback.
|
I have an '11 with Nav amd I havent found a larger USB drive that my car will even recognize. Admittedly I haven't tried but a few.
|
I plugged a USB hard drive into my non-nav and the system wouldn't acknowledge its presence. I have a 64GB flash drive in there now that adheres to the 1000 file limit and it plays my music just fine.

Unless your file structures meet the system requirements, the system will not recognize the drive regardless of size. I'm running an 8GB drive with my non-Nav system. Sadly, it will support only 1,000 total files and only 128(?) files in the root directory. I have four folders, each with 249 tracks using 6.21GB total.

As long as the format is FAT32 is should work however their seems to be a limit to the size of thumb drive u can use. So far someone has mentioned they’ve used a 128GB. I’ve used a 512GB and a 1TB and those are unrecognizable even with only maybe 20 songs on the drive.
