Rear 6x9 wires

I'm replacing the 2 rear 6x9 Bose speakers in my convertible. The pink and blue wires that are from the factory that come into the speaker are plugging into a white plastic clip. In order for me to be able to plug the two wires into the aftermarket six by nines, I have to cut the two wires and splice them back a little bit and totally do away with the plastic clip. Is this the right thing to do? Also...does the blue wire from the existing speaker connect to the black and the pink(reddish) wire connect to the red?

What is right depends on what your plans are for the car going forward. If you don't want to return to the stock audio, cut the plugs and connect the bare wire to the speakers. I like to preserve as much of the factory wiring as possible; making it much easier to sell the car after I remove my equipment. Therefore, I tend to work around the plugs and connectors used. The connectors on your speakers look the same as what was on my 2008 Bose 6X9's

I unsoldered the copper lead wires to the speaker from the plastic plug

Removing the plug from the speaker allows you to solder bare wires to the connector, wire them to your speakers and use the factory plug/socket

The molex style connector is fairly robust but just to be sure I put a tie wrap around the mated plug and jack and tightened it down. You'd have to cut the tie wrap to disconnect the speakers.

As for what color is what polarity, id consult your service manual to verify. I doubt whether Infiniti changes wire colors much between years but you never know

I would trim the wire loom and use wire taps before the connector.

This is usually best if you want to sell the car later and/or return the stock speakers.

Did the 6x9 fit? What brand did you use? How did it sound?
