Hi.

I just got a 2012 g37xs coup! I have a few questions about operating the audio & map controls from the wheel and using voice. Hope one of you seasoned vets can help me. Sorry, I'm pretty new to this stuff - so my question may not make sense :-)

Audio & wheel control:
1) When I'm playing music (usb/iphone), I know I can change tracks, and volum from the wheel, but is there way I can pause the music from the wheel control?
2) I can use the enter key to go up/down but is there a way to go side-ways :-) selecting a button to the right?

Map & wheel control:
I can't figure out a way to control the map from the wheel (I don't think there are any controls for that). Is there a way for example to stop the route guidance from the wheel? or voice control?

Voice control:
I find that the voice control is only good for 'Destination Home' :-) I haven't been able to successfully use it for anything else. I maybe missing something:
a) when I say audio, it won't list the usb...it lists just about everything else (my iphone is connected). I thought maybe there is way to extend its choices?
b) when I say address, I always I have to start from state/province (is there way to set a default)?
c) I'm used to google map...that does an integrated search. For example, I can say deep-cove park and it knows where it is...can the car's navigation system do the same?

Software update:
Do you guys update your map data? when?
Is the car's dash-software updatable? do you get notifications?

Unfortunately, the answer to most of your questions is "No".

The voice control in most cars is awful to the point of being unusable. And I'd rather just reach over and touch the map rather than cluttering up the steering wheel with buttons.

If you have a 2012 G37, I doubt there's a map update out for you yet. If there is, the dealership is the place to go get it done.

to cancel navigation route

say "cancel route"

i'm in ontario, canada
so i automatically say "destination street address ontario"
then i have to say city and then street.

there are a lot of commands but just remembering them is a pain.

i also use "xm channel xxx"
to change xm station.
i set temperature too sometimes when i'm super lazy otherwise i turn the *****
"set teperature x degrees" i'm canadian midn you so degrees.

On my ride, hit voice and say “USB” and voila, if you have a drive plugged in. Say “MUSIC BOX” for your ripped CD’s. You can also say “XM”, “FM”, or “AM”.

If you have a destination stored, say “DESTINATION” and your choices will pop up. Then say the number of the destination. Ditto for your address book.

I believe you can also verbally say an address, although I have not tried that.

You can also say “PLACES” and restaurants, gas stations, etc. will pop up.

Read your navigation manual for more detailed info.
