2009 vs. 2010 Navi/Bluetooth/iPod Audio Questions - Can someone help clarify?

Hey guys, new poster here. I'm in the market for a used G37x, and will be getting either a 2009 or 2010 model with Premium Package. I understand there are a few differences in the navigation/bluetooth/iPod connectivity options, but it's not entirely clear to me. Can someone help me clear it up?

The primary things that are important to me are playing audio from and controlling my iPhone 5 through the car stereo/steering wheel, making Bluetooth calls through the car stereo, and very clear resolution on the in-dash LCD screen (for all functions like menus, radio, etc). The actual navigation feature itself isn't critical to me since I have the iPhone GPS, but it seems like I need the Nav package to achieve the other 3 things listed above. Correct?

I know that the pre-2010 navigation unit does not support Bluetooth audio streaming. What are some other options for getting audio from my iPhone to the car stereo in a 2009 G37? Is there a dedicated iDevice hookup, or do I need to get more creative? Is there any way to control the iPhone from the steering wheel in the 2009 model? Watching video on the car LCD is not important to me.

In general, can someone break down the differences between the 2009 and 2010 G37 when it comes to the navigation and iPhone/general audio connectivity options?

Thanks guys! :thewave:

Composite video/audio connection? 2009
USB connection? 2010
High(er) resolution screen? 2010
A2DP (Bluetooth media streaming)? 2010
Ipod (pre-iphone5 connector) connection? Both
Iphone5 connection? Neither, from the factory. Thank Apple for changing their connector after EVERYTHING adopted their original proprietary connector. God I hate that company.

i have a 2009 sport without the nav or tech packages. an ipod can plug into the centre console and you can control it from the steering wheel. however, it won't charge the newer ipods because apple changed something in the interface shortly after the 2009 g's came out. i use a 5th generation nano which charges fine. there are adaptors available for the newer ipods so they can be charged by the vehicle as well.

you can make and receive calls via bluetooth throught the stereo in the 2009.

my screen resolution is fine. i wasn't even aware it was upgraded in 2010. not sure why you'd need better. it's not like i watch tv in my car.

one thing i wish i had that became standard in 2010 is the rear back-up camera. when i was shopping for the car i didn't care about it (i figured i never had it before so won't miss it) but it sure would be nice for backing into parking spots. i've never owned a car with an actual trunk before and i have a bit of a tough time judging how far i am from things (i drove hatchbacks for 20+ years before buying this car) and frequently end up too far out.

Hey guys - just wanted to report back. I ended up getting a screaming deal on a 2011 w/ Nav, so I got everything I wanted :)
