USB question

Hey guys I recently got. 2012 g37x. USB for iPhone works fine. I bought a 16gb PNY flash drive to also use. I formatted it correctly and followed the manual for folder and root limitations. Still not working
Maybe I'll go pick up a new one this week.
But wanted to ask those of you who have it working...
What brand and size USB flash drive do you use with your car? And what year car is it working for you on?
Thanks for the help

I purchased this from Newegg with a $10 rebate. Like the small size as it doesn't protrude, wasting space. Didn't format it just copied my whole mp3 collection, plugged in & never looked back. Always there ready to play.
"CORSAIR Voyager Mini 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Model CMFUSBMINI-32GB"

Ok maybe ill try that one. Bc mine takes soo long to load the files then doesn't play says check device. I dont need to plug it in before I turn on the engine do I?

Interesting, I had a 2GB and it wouldnt play when I formatted it. Had to use an Ipod Nano (bought used from Craiglist), and now it works. I always filled it to the max, but gave the same error as mentioned above.

I believe the USB was solely made for Apple products? Thats what I read on the forums as well.

Not sure what formatted correctly is, but using a 32GB corsair formatted to fat32 with no issues.

By formatted correctly I meant fat32 before putting files on. And didnt just dump all files into root folder I organized them as per artist so it wasnt 200 songs in one root folder. Even hough I had such a small amount of tracks it still gave me a problem I'm convinced it's the Pny USB. I remember I had a similar problem with my gopro camera where it wouldn't accept kingston sd ram. But tool everything else lol.

Anyway what brand USB were you using?

Do you guys know if it will play videos? If you would had them formatted in the USB?

My 2010 would not work with my 16GB USB drive when it was formatted NTFS. Got a check USB drive error. Worked fine after I reformatted to FAT32.

I don't think NTFS is supported. Just use FAT32 and keep the number of files/folders under the minimum (depends on Nav/non-Nav) and it should work fine. The quality of the thumb drive also matters. I used to use the Verbatim Store'n'Stay 16GB, but it was a POS. I switched to the SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16GB and it has worked well.
