iPod cutting out in '08 Journey...

When I connect an ipod to the factory connector it gets recognized and plays for about a minute, then loses its connection. (iPod not connected message appears on the nav window) It also fails when I tuck it into the storage compartment. Have tried three different iPods with the same behavior. Any history of problems with the factory cable or connector in the console? The car is under warranty but the closest dealer is over an hour away so I don't want to make the trip unless it is really necessary.

I'd take the trip. The car is 4-5 years old and it's a Nissan so that means stuff that like can be funky. Take the drive, get it fixed, and enjoy. I'd say its worth an hr drive.

It sounds like the cable to me. I have an '08 Journey and use the adapter so the newer i-Devices charge, I have to get in it just right or it looses the connection. Not sure that is something they will replace under warranty, I would call first. I can hear it now, "normal daily use wear & tear"

You also need to way the gas cost vs the cable cost :-)

You can get a new cable off ebay for ~20 bucks.

Old school, but my recommendation: http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/sendbin....JPG&width=275

Haven't had a problem yet with these. Got them for $10.

Update...

Replaced the cable and it seems to be working correctly. Need to road test for a few days to confirm the problem is solved.

Did you go to the dealer?
Buy an OEM elsewhere?
Buy another brand?
