Auto Dim of Navigation at night?

Question for you all. When it gets into the evening and I turn on the headlights, I would expect the navigation display to go into night time mode (white to black background). Mine doesn't do this. I need to switch it manually. Is there a way to set this so it will happen automatically or do you have to switch it over manually every time?

Good to know. I will hunt around for it to see if I can modify the setting.

I've been using that button to manually switch between day/night mode. Are you saying it also is used to set for auto switching tied to the headlights?

If you use the switch to match wether the headlights are on (nanavation dark) or off (navagation light), it is suppose to automatically switch with the headlights. If you manually change it to not match the headlights, it will stay in that condition.

It's the same button you are using. Watch the bottom of your screen and it will say: Night, Day, Auto

My day/night button doesn't work?

Hey guys,

I have been looking all over the forum to try to figure out why my day/night button on my 2013 G37 sedan only adjusts the display brightness and not the navigation map background color.

I thought the feature didn't exist (not sure why it wouldn't though), my navigation map ALWAYS has a white background no matter how many times I press the day/night button (the one next to the INFO button). But I just got a loaner G37 from the dealer while getting service and THIS car's map background is black, and turns to white when I turn the headlights on.

What gives?

I can't figure out how to get this feature working in my own car, the dealer doesn't have a clue, the navigation manual doesn't have much info either. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Go into map settings. There will be a option for this.

I don't know. On my car it's automatic. I can override it when the headlights are on. Pressing the brightness button changes to the white background. Pressing it again changes to the black background and puts the display in auto mode.

Yes but the setting doesn't disengage when you set the headlights back to auto ... so whe the headlights go on at night, the display is too bright. Such a pain in the a$$.

Do it from the settings menu and it works fine.
