Flash Drives?

i want to put some music on my hard drive in my car and the only two ways are by burning a cd or downloading them onto a flash drive and putting them on that way is that correct? what kind of flash drive do u need to be able to download from your comp to your car. I have USB one i used for things but it doesn't look like it would fit in the slot in the car.

This all depends on what year G37 you have... 2009 and before used a compact flash memory card while in 2010 I think they went to USB. You can easily buy a compact flash memory card from newegg or tigersdirect or amazon for cheap. Even ebay has them for cheap.

Hope this helps

2009: something like this

Newegg.com - Transcend 2GB Compact Flash (CF) Flash Card Model TS2GCF133 - Flash Memory

ya i have a 2009 g37x so u think i can buy one at bestbuy or something? which is the right model or whatever? also those are the only two ways to download songs onto the hard drive correct?

SindhiStyle 03-09-2010 07:50 PM

Yea you can get one at best buy...will probably be a bit more. You need a Compact Flash Memory card..2-4 gigs at most. Since it will only play 512 songs.

I think those are the only 2 ways to put them on your vehicles hard drive.

You can't move music from CF to internal hard drive (music box), just so you know. Buy a 4GB CF from newegg, some were as cheap as $15 shipped last time I looked. At best buy you will pay something like $40-50 for the same thing.

you said u cant move music from flash drive to hard drive? so how do u put music on your hard drive then?

FourT2 03-09-2010 11:40 PM

Music CD only

do they sell cd's that hold more than 18 songs? so what is the point of having a compact flash drive if you have an ipod hook up as well its the same exact thing if u cant transfer music from the flash drive to the hard drive?

Hi infiniti...use your library. I have 3/4 of my 9.3 gig hard drive filled in just a couple of months. Put in my cdees, borrowed some from my friends, and got the rest from the library which has loads of every type.

a cd can hold more than 18 tracks. depends on length of the track, bitrate, etc.

re: point of having CF card - exactly my frustration with it, and the reason I ended up just getting a 160GB ipod classic.

Yep, get an ipod and a charge converter. The interface is much better and no songs limit. A 16GB ipod nano is good enough for me although I have like 8GB left.

If CF card could hold more than 512 songs, I'd go with CF card for sure because it's cheaper per GB.

Or get a 7th Gen 160 GB iPod classic - no converter needed. It charges and goes to sleep when using the cable that comes with the car.

Can you download music to the music box from a flash drive on the 2010?
