Escort 9500ix Radar Detector Lasar False Alerts at Mirror

'08 G37 S Coupe fully loaded: Just bought an Escort 9500ix radar detector and was planning on mounting on my rearview mirror (has compass, home garauge and auto-dim features), but whenever I bring the unit from it's window mount to the mirror or anywhere inside the cabin of the car, the laser alert goes off.
Anyone know of this issue?
What could be the cause?
If there is a fix for it?
Thanks !!

just put electric tape on the bottom towards the front. that should cover the part of the sensor which is setting it off with the nav

yea i had this problem, the thread is on the forum somewhere. I came up with the electrical tape solution, but really after a while I just slid the detector further down the rear mirror arm (custom rear view mirror mount) and that stopped the false laser alerts. do a search its on here somewhere.

Yeah I had to use electrical tape also, I have not been able to get my mirror mount and the radar detector to work without it.

I had issue with beltronic rx65 laser going off without no apparent reason. I did noticed I was getting more false alerts during sun set. I had to sent in for warranty repair work to replace the sensor cover for laser. This is a known issue and covered it until warranty. You might want to call and find out if there is defect or see if this is normal.
BTW when I sent in beltronics for repair, it was sent to believe or not escort repair center. Basically both are same companies.

I know this might sound crazy, but I have the dynamic cruise control with the infrared sensor on the front bumper. Whenever cruise is turned on (but not set) and I pull into any kind of garage, or up on any vertical surface, the laser alert goes off.

I am using a Beltronics passport 9500i (one of the first ones produced). Never had a problem with it any other time except for when cruise is turned on and the sensor is emitting infrared light.

It's not the acc causing the issue, the nav display generates some type of interferance just above the display screen on the dash. You need to angle up or move forward your unit so that the reviever can not see the top of your nav display, not the screen itself but the dash that is directly over the nav screen.

Thats awesome! I have a V1, and it also does this. I have been wondering about it for months now. I have been living with it, as it doesn't do it all the time, maybe once, if at all during the 1 hour commute to work. Mine is mounted just to the left of the rearview mirror. I'll try the tape trick and see if that works.

I was getting ready to disconnect the sensor, because I don't really care about laser. Not allot of it around here, and if it goes off legit, you are busted anyway.

Escort 8500 (has laser warning) mounted low on windshield in front of nav with no problems.

Just mounted mine underneath the rearview mirror. During install it was going off all the time. Once installed and adjusted I guess it was far enough away where it stopped going off. Haven't done any major driving with it installed, will post back later.
