Searching for music with car's built in Ipod interface.
I was wondering if anyone else has had a difficult time using the car's built in Ipod controls? I can't change the way I can search for music. I have to go through the whole list in order to find anything. Any ideas?:confused2:

Nope thats how it is, you either have to make playlists of what you want, or unplug the ipod find your song and plug it back in.

did you try pushing down the button for a few sec?
It helps a little bit. But, the best way is a playlist. |
yeah, unless you have the patience to just hold the down button for a while unfortunately that's the way it is. I just put mine on play all and have it on shuffle. I think that's the ONE thing that could have been designed better w/respect to the sound system

Bummer! Thank you! I wonder if a software upgrade would do the trick?
|
I'm not sure, they would have to add an entirely new section to the interface. BUT I've definitely seen big things like that added before in other cars, so it's not out of the question. For now just make a playlist or put the whole thing on shuffle :D

I believe I found this solution somewhere else on this site....but, what I did was change the "genre" of all of my songs to the first letter of the name of the band/artist (ie, ACDC=A, Beastie Boys=B, etc). That way, when you go to "genre" on the infiniti ipod menu, you only have to scroll through 26 items to get to the letter (artist) you want (or else, you'll never end up listening to Wolfmother!).
I have over 8000 songs on my ipod, and I can find an artist in about 10 seconds now. |
