Base Audio upgrades....what is everybody using?

I don't have the premium package....and I believe there is NO amp running to the trunk!!!! I have the journey model with 6 speakers.

So I guess I need a line converter to add an amp and a couple of 10" subs......i'll be pulling the signal from the rear speakers. Is there a better place to pull the signal?

How about the remote turn on? am I able to tap out of the XM tuner?

Anybody out there with same model as I do? how did you add your amp and subwoofer??

thanks
Kirk

LOL....No not really, it was just an easy handle I can think of at the time..haha

Seriously, nobody here has a Base audio system that they are looking to upgrade???

I have the base audio and plan on doing the same thing. JL makes a fairly cheap converter. Just pull the signal from the rear deck. Easy as pie with our system.

Also if you want to hide the amp, there is no BOSE amp underneath the rear floormat. Big hole to hid audio equipment down there. That's my plan.

Thanks for the suggestions..

I knew I wasn't the only one with a Base audio system!!!!

I was looking for some converters on Ebay...so may different kinds (PAC, stinger....but did not see the JL)....

How about the Remote turn on for the amP? was looking into the xm tuner, but don't think its loose wires...

Though the PAC converter states it has a 12v remote turn on, once it gets audio signal...but there is a 1 second delay...hmmm

If you have the Bose system, you may not even need a line converter. People have been talking about way to get a line level signal near the bose amps in the trunk. one user dillyo was exploring this, further.

That's the thing, I didn't get the Premium Package....so i don't have the Bose system or amp.

I looked at the service manual arleady, For the 6 speaker BASE system, the Head Unit powers all the speakers and the only remote amp turn on wire may need to be run from the front......or maybe antenna box or XM tuner in trunk???

That 1 second delay is to prevent speaker pop. In other words helps prevent from when you turn on your sound system sometimes you will hear the bass make a "thump" as soon as the stereo is on.

Yeah, it sounds great with out that POP.. Just installed a Fosgate amp using a PAC line converter.....great little device....don't need to run the remote turn on

What amp and sub combo did you use? I just bought a 10w6v2 JL for $160 but I'm waiting on the 4080 enclosure.

Just had a pair of old school 10" punch speakers going in Zenclosure box and Fosgate 4002 amp...but i don't think the amp is strong enough.... will probably upgrade soon.
