Does an awd coupe need all 4 tires to be the same brand?

How's it goin G family I had a quick question I have an all wheel drive 2010 Jeep coupe and was wondering can I have my two back tires be different than the two front tires? I was told for an all wheel drive or four tires should be the same with the same tread pattern does it really matter?

For convenience purposes, yes...
It will keep the rolling diameter the same at each axle which will decrease the likelihood of any stability issues. Same diameter, same weight, same tread...you're good to go.

It's best to have all four of the same tires, at the very least all four tires should be the same performance type, so not mixing all seasons w/ summer tires or different speed ratings front & back. Do you already have different pairs or are you wanting just a pair of new tires?

Yes all 4 should be the same tire. Not just the same brand, but the same exact tires. It'll still drive if they are different, but having them all the same is best.

Also w/ AWD diameter is critical, and even though the sizes listed on the sidewall may be the same, the actual measured diameter may be quite different from brand to brand and even tires within the same brand.
