Hi all,

Just wanted to get your opinions on several different tires that I was looking into and what the best price/performance selection would be. I drive pretty normally / occasionally spirited on the streets. The tires will not see track time and I live in Houston, TX so running summer tires year-round is perfectly fine with me. My priority is dry/wet performance.

Bridgestone Potenza S-04s in 225/50/R18 for $122 per tire
Bridgestone Potenza S-04s in 245/45/R18 for $162 per tire
Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 225/50/R18 for $143 per tire
Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 245/45/R18 for $223 per tire

At the moment, I am leaning towards the Michelin PSS in 225/50/R18 since it's the stock OEM tire size (18x8.0 wheels, square setup) and seems priced very reasonably. That said, fatter tires are appealing

Michelins are quiet. I have had them on my BMW wagon but don't expect them to last very long.

It's a sport tire. Typical life expectancy is probably 15-25K depending how you drive it. Expect to replace 2 rears for each front. I've read reports of the s04's getting louder (similar to the re050a's) as they get more worn. Next spring the PSS's will be fitted to my own car.

With new tires it's a good idea to get an alignment too.

I'd run a little wider on those 18x8" rims, a 235/45 or 245/45 will work fine on a square setup.

Appreciate the input guys! I think I'm leaning back to the Bridgestone S-04s in 245/45/R18 due to a $70 rebate that's expiring soon

Cant go wrong with either one to be honest. The Michelins tend to be the overall crowd favorite, but the BS is a very very close performer. If you closed your eyes and picked one you'd be equally as good off.

I have eibach springs and have the 18's as well. So 245/45 square setup will work with no problems? I have 225/50/18 at the moment and they look like truck tires they are so fat on the side =\

The 245 is a good mount on an 8" rim, the 7.5 is a bit too narrow though. So yeah, you'll be fine on those coupe 18s running 245s.
