The Tire Bible, great calculators & info here!

Just click on the links (each link is a new page) and give it a good read, great info and also some very useful calculators that aren't generally a part of most tire calculator sites.

That is a great find. There is several things here that I don't think I have ever seen in another online tire/wheel calculator.

Thanks for sharing!

I guess I don't understand the discussion on offset. Can you very simply answer this question. Which wheel will be closer to the outer edge of the car? A wheel with 43mm offset or a wheel with a 30 mm offset....all other things being equal.

The more positive the offset the further in the wheel will be. It's the amount (in mm) that the rim mounting flange is away from the centerline, the further positive the further out the mounting flange moves, which in turn brings the wheel in. Hope that makes sense, it's a bit hard to grasp at first but once you get the visual it becomes pretty clear.
The more rare instances where a wheel has negative offset, the wheel mount moves inward from the centerline pushing the wheel out, you'll see some negative offsets in the real "hella-flush" setups w/ very heavy camber, stretched tires & pulled fenders.

OK, OK. I think I got it. I thought we were moving the centerline further out.......But what we are doing is.... when we build the wheel we are moving the FLANGE further (or closer) to the centerline.

So right now Unleashedwheels are trying to determine the offset on the wheel I showed you. They thought it was 35mm but another vendor claims 30mm. They are checking with STR. And 35mm would put the wheel further IN than 30mm.

Thanks!
