ITB12-027 7AT Fix
#46
Quick question for those that have had this latest TSB for the tranny done.... did you already have the 10-075a TSB from 4/15/11 performed on your vehicle and, if so, are you noticing a big improvement? Although the reports posted so far seem to be extremely positive, it's not clear how many of those getting this latest update had either only gotten the very first update performed or had never had any of the prior AT TSBs performed.
I had both done, and I didn't really feel a difference from 10-075A, but a huge difference from 12-027A

I didn't need to convince them. I just told them the problems I was experiencing and told them to perform the updates. They did them no questions, I had a very good experience.

Just because you got the first one done, it doesn't mean you can't get the 2nd one. The 2nd TSB is meant to fix what the 1st didn't. It's the most current update for the 2009-2011.

i feel like it is... i mean the stupid acceleration swell is still a problem... and if i'm not manually down shifting, it's not going quickly enough...
i mean sure it's smoother downshifting... but man i feel like it was at the cost of some serious low range power.
anybody throw their's on a dyno after the flash?

well, i got the first update about a year ago. i got the 2nd update mid june of this year. i did not have to convince them at all. i drove in without an appt. told them my symptoms and asked for the new transmission update. they knew what I was talking about and took my car without any hesitation.

Any updates....
...from folks who got the re-flash and have driven awhile after, does it really change back to pre-flash issues or is it a perception thing? Or is it truly the "adaptive" learning tranny that will make it go right back?
I've always felt that lag, but have come to "learn" how to drive my car (a little tap of the gas followed by a heavier stomp to the gas and I don't get the lag - this is how I deal w/ the "lag" that people describe when coming from a stop or rapid deceleration.). It hasn't been too different from any other "lag" i've felt in any other automatic tranny, although it is a bit more pronounced in this car b/c of the power of the VQ. I experienced this "lag" even in my old 3 series.
The one thing I do not like, granted it doesn't happen as often, is the 2>1 downshift. It's clunky and rough as hell sometimes, and other times, just feels like the tranny fell out. Doesn't happen as often anymore, so not sure if this is a "learned" behavior (as in, the tranny learned not to do that) or the re-flash/re-program was done without my knowledge of it.
I just want to know if this "fix" is something that is worth doing b/c I don't want to take the aggression out of the way my car drives only to be "a little" smoother. AND, if the fix actually lasts since we have this "adaptive" tranny...

so far the ITB12-027A for the 09 is pretty solid. you don't get the nasty blurps down shifting, and upshifting from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 is more solid and smooth. while you can still feel the transmission working, it isn't as intrusive as ITB10-075.
i've come to reason the 09 7AT will never be as the 11/12, but we're much closer now with this TSB.
