ITB07-007b TAPPING NOISE FROM DASH AREA

APPLIED VEHICLES:
2008 G37 Coupe (CV36)

APPLIED VINS:
G37 Coupe built before JNKCV64E(*)8M 125916

APPLIED DATES:
2008 G37 / G35 built before: 03-Apr-2008

A tapping noise coming from the dash area when the engine is running at operating temperature,
NOTE: This tapping noise, if it should occur, sounds like a screwdriver being tapped on the work bench.
The tapping speed increases and decrease with the engine RPM and may require engine RPM of about
3000 for the noise to be heard.

hmmm, cd this be the infamous center dash rattle!? do i not hear it anymore cuz im using the COOL AC now instead of heat?
It got really bad towards the end of winter into early spring. I thought maybe just the fluctuation in outside temps

My car falls in that vin range but I have never heard the noise. Is it only when the heat is on cause I have not run my heat yet. Living in Tampa its rare that I do.

I swear I've heard this noise before, but not recently. Probably ambient temp related?

Anyway, thanks for posting this. It'll go in the file.

Oh wow, I had this noise 3 months ago and took it in because of it but of course it didn't show itself at that time and the dealer seems to think I'm imagining things when it doesn't happen when I'm there.. I will definitely be having them look at this again.

Download and read the attached PDF in the first post. It - just like all TSB's - describe how to detect and remedy the problem.

I get tapping noise from my dashboard if my car has been sitting in the sun for a while. Does this for like 30 seconds and goes away... probably temperature related. Is this the same tapping noise for the TSB?
