PCH and Nepenthe. California Coast Road -Pics

One of my favorite roads to drive Z's and now my G for the past 40 years or so is Pacific Coast Hwy 1 from say San Simeon north to Monterey's (now) 17 mile drive. Given the road "slip-outs" recently, I thought I'd post a report...
Early this week drove as far north as Nepenthe (Big Sur). Even with the rock slides and sections of the road that have recently found their way into the Pacific, pluses could be found. No trouble with stock rims and height. Most of the road was good. Here's a picture of some of one bad section of HWY1 under repair and a picture of what I think is one of the best pieces of "rail" at Nepenthe. Thanks to the closed road, virtually no wait for lunch! I also drove a bit of the nacimiento-fergusson road. I'm betting some readers know it. It was sweet! A good time to enjoy the light traffic and good weather.

PCH is a road that I'd like to share with anyone that can and hasn't driven it yet. The Road to Hana on Maui is another favorite. There are some great roads nearer LA too. But, this section of the coast is great in it's own way IMHO. BTW Rooms have fireplaces at the Cavalier Resort in San Simeon and can be a good "sleep over" for two day drives.

One picture is on the pier near the Old Port Inn, a nice lunch spot near Aliva Beach, near Pismo. The first and last pics are near Nacimento and PCH / Cabrillo. That's a road where country meets rock and roll. Enjoy.
