I just looked up on the Optima site a 2012 M37x and 2008 G37 Coupe and the same battery comes up. I'm a big fan of the Optima red Top batteries and Summit Racing online offers one of the best prices, fast shipping and they arrive in great condition (as opposed to Amazon). I have bought 3 of them from Summit.

Actually, the M37 and G37 don't use the same battery for all applications. They are similar, but different. The battery for the M isstronger with higher CCA than the one for the G37 (G37-585 CCA vs. M37-800 CCA). Here's a link to Exide batteries application chart. I just bought one for my wife's G37 because it does fit in the compartment of both cars. I chose the M37 battery because it is stronger and Exide NASCAR Extreme because it is a great battery with one of the best warranties available and isn't obscenely priced like the Optimas that so many people love. An Optima battery is overkill for 90% of the people that buy them.

I bought the 24FX battery for $120 at Tractor Supply Co.

Good luck.

Picked up the 24fx at HD this afternoon. Their highly trained workers really know how to arrange stuff on the shelf. The freshest battery up front, older in the rear. Mine had a mfg date of 9/2015, further back were stamped 6/2015. Impressed the batteries were so fresh.

Installation was relatively easy. Used one of those lithium power packs to keep power while disconnected. My clock and express window up/down got reset but everything else appears untouched. No idea if presets got erased since I never listen to the radio nor did I ever set them. Other audio and bcm settings remained.

The new battery is slightly narrower than original. Used an old inner tube to add thickness to the hold down bar at the ends and old heater core hose underneath. Not as quick as changing out a fully exposed battery but easier than I thought.

We'll find out in a few days if the car starts

Edit (after a few days): Car started right up without any issues. Had to rememorize the seat position in addition to above.

Returning the core back to home depot was an interesting endeavor. The lady was looking for the barcode to scan on the old battery. I *think* she was trying to process it as a complete refund rather than just a core return. I pointed out it was just a core... However if she wanted to refund the whole thing I wouldn't complain either

Also, returned my old motorcycle battery as the core. Figured the old car battery would be useful for a few 12V applications I have.
