Number of posts per page

I often see posts where the poster refers to something on page x of a thread. The page they refer to is never the same page as it shows for me. So I wondered, do members know that everyone may have their settings set to show a different number of posts per page? Apparently not.

For those unaware you can change the number of posts in a thread to be displayed per page.

-Click User CP on the menu header at the top of the page.
-On the left side of the User CP page click on under the "Settings & Options" select "Edit Options".
-Under "Thread Display Options" go to "Number of Posts to Shop Per Page" and select a choice between 5 and 100.

FYI.

Thanks BB

Note to members: always refer to posts by their post numbers rather than page numbers in the future please

I just posted this because I figured a lot of people don't know they can change it. I forgot what the default is, but I'm pretty sure that it's lower than 50 posts per page which is where I have mine set. Only really long threads ever go longer than one or 2 pages this way.

Good info. It's 25 posts per page for default.

If you want to change it, please refer to Betty's post on page 1 of this thread.

Instead of referring to a page x in a thread, wouldn’t it be easier to just refer to a specific post number? That should be a constant regardless of how many pages are shown.

Rather than referencing page #'s, reference post numbers instead. Those are absolute and don't change regardless of how many posts per page. In addition, you can also link to direct posts.

Yes, I missed it. But I was trying to get in a post with little danger of losing experience points, sometimes a bit of a challenge for me.

Sign me up for Reading 101. Sometimes for reasons unknown, the text is read, but goes in one eye, out the other. Similar to when your spouse is pestering you to do something

... Chekov, for someone who claims that he doesn't pay much heed to the Experience Points System, you seem to have your fair share of grievances with it.

That’s because I would like to see it ended. BTW, you lost 11 points for your last post.

... I'm not a big fan of it, either. Start a petition. I will sign it...
