I'm guessing you have a 'go-to' shop that will let you pass the inspection with a windshield tint?

It's so clear that if I didn't actually see it being installed I wouldn't know that it was there! It's basically a UV blocker. Look it up, "Blue 80".

One Day!
(I found them on Ebay. Less than 50 miles away. Never been installed!)

That's an impressive find, OP. There's a whole thing out there, of people who buy parts but for whatever reason can't bring themselves to have the work done.

Hey here's a tip: do not toss out that aluminum brace between the OEM cats.

I'm planning on installing the FI-HFRCs today and when done, my first drive will be to get a Lottery Ticket! :-)

Thanks for the link Roch! I'll see what I can design while I'm under the car today. Ideally a bolt on solution. (I do mechanical design for a living.) :-)

Good luck w/ the cat bolts, they can expand your vocabulary, and not in a good way

You're very welcome.

It's been a while, but isn't one of the three OEM bolts actually a stud from the OEM cats... commonly called the demon bolt? Probably designed that way to facilitate a more efficient factory installation. Don't take my word for that, though. Reasearch it. All I remember is my mechanic freaking out, frustrated why one bolt on each cat was giving him hell. Eventually, he whipped out the torch and cut through the corner of the flange on the cat.

I suppose I could go up to the attic and look at the OEM cats, but its really cold, LOL.

5The original CATs are out!

One location on each CAT is held to the header via a bolt that comes from the engine side through the header flange and threats into the CAT. The only one of these that gave me trouble was the one on the driver's side. I got it to backoff a 1/4 turn but no more. So I just snapped the head off. (and no, I didn't use my impact gun, just the guns that God gave me) ;-)

So with ruffly a hour and a half in, the original CATs are out and I'm taking a break for lunch.

It's all installed! Going to get myself cleaned up, do an ECU Reset and take it for a spin! :-)

All is GOOD! No Cells thrown!

Is this your only exhaust mod so far? How's the sound? Rasp / drone?

This is my only exhaust mod. No rasp or droning, but I have less than 100 miles on it. So far, I'm liking the deeper tone and that engine seems to responds better.

How much louder is your exhaust with just the rhfcs?
Since it's tough to measure without the proper equipment, please give me your best guess - will this be an issue on longer drives (few hours)? Could it get annoying eventually? Etc.

I'd say 5-10% louder. Just enough to make it sound very good to my ears. I don't think that it will become an issue on long trips.

Maybe you'll be able to hear it at a NC meet. Looks like we might be meeting at the NC Zoo in a few weeks.
