G37x is faster than a G37xS because it is lighter both of my friends ran multiple times and the x beat the xS by almost a car lenght. A coupe Manual is on the same level as the x sedan, I seen it and couldn't believe it. Our cars top out 149Mph top.
I personally own a 2010 Maxima intake/y-pipe/deleted resonator. I don't even come close to a G37's. From a dig I get abused and from a roll I keep up until 100... Barely and then my CVT dies and the G starts leaving me by 5 if not 6 cars...
This is why I'm getting a G37x or wait ou t until the new G sedan will come out.

So X is lighter than an XS? By what 80 pounds? Ok 79 but whose counting. Yes I looked it up as I always do. This is the same crap the sedan guys spew as well when they are only 84 pounds lighter than a coupe.
People don't ever bring up things like driver, tires etc that actually make a BIG differance............... Tires are the best investment you can make for the track. If you can keep the power down you will be tons faster right there. You can easly make up an 84 pound deficit with tires. If you run the stock BS Pots like I am, all you're going to do is spin them.

Bump for a good topic. Anyone run their car at the track lately? I took my car last night for the first time to PBIR Palm Beach International Raceway. It was a last minute trip, so I didn't empty my trunk full of work supplies. 2008 G35s 5AT sedan. Only mod i have is TopSpeed exhaust. Had a blast. Track was in good shape. Best run of the night was a 13.75 @ 100.14 mph.

Robert_K,
Your times seem right in there ... except for 0-60. Are you sure it wasn't 5.87 sec? That would match pretty well with your other numbers.

You X owners are joking right? First - I have personally smoked many G37X 7AT. Second, that transmission is usless in sport mode - very slow to shift. So you leave it in auto and go, which is nice, but gets boring. The loaners I have had are not as fun to drive and much much slower on the top end over 80mph. Off the line they are quick, and it nearly feels the same. Thats personal preference. Let's get down to the facts.
At the end of the day guys, its simple math. More weight, same power, plus AWD drive additional loss to the wheels. Unless the X defies the rules of physics, at first glance, it seems obvious that it could not be faster than a G37s. Research confirms:

I can cite you about 5 other professional articles if you would like - all agree that the X is anywhere from .5 to a full second slower than a RWD 6MT.
The 6MT G37S is the fastest example of a stock Infiniti G. For those of you who go on about getting good launches and bogging -learn to drive stick. I have about 20k miles on my G and long ago I figured out exactly how to launch this car. You learn the car and develop the skill. I run consistent 13.8s or better. You know your car and how to shift, and once you do - its a huge advantage, not the other way around. When I am rolling, I know exactly what gear I want to hit and how to rev match and hit it nice. It is a beautiful thing to be able to put your G exactly at the RPMS you want without AT intervention. The human driver is more intelligent than any AT, and the 6MT gearbox allows you to leverage you thoughts on gear selection as you please.
The AT sport mode is very very laggy, nearly useless. So as you smash the gas waiting for the AT to pick a gear - often not the best gear - I have already selected my gear and peak RPM. Peace.
If you are not a decent stick driver, then dont get stick.

The 7AT is far from useless. Others may have trouble on here but I haven't and in S it shifts pretty quick and does what I need it to. An X version of the car hasn't been tested since '09 I believe, and it was the X coupe, not even a sedan, so not really a fair comparison. To put it simply, there's hardly any magazine / pro tests of an X out there, so it's hard to see what difference if any really exists between the RWD and X car. I know from experience the X can be launched really hard and have a great 0-60. There isn't much drivetrain loss in the X from the AWD itself- there's no real mechanical differentials like in Quattro / Subaru / Evo's etc. so the mythical 20% awd loss doesn't compute here for the X, it's 15% at the most and barely anymore than a RWD 7AT car.
AWD has its advantages...it's silly to argue on here and speculate that the regular RWD car is so much faster / better than an X. In the end who cares.

I have driven my '09 xS side by side with my neighbor's '10 S and I've driven both cars one after the other myself. Both are 7AT's. Very difficult to tell the difference, at least on the street. We did not do a real drag race, of course, but following down the entrace ramp and onto the highway ... virtually identical. The ATESSA system does nothing unless the rear tires are slipping. No way is the x 1/2 second slower to 60.
